Ron that's very kind thankyou. I put a lot of time into my airbrush work, many hours and hours of practice at the start and Iy was worth the effort. Woodgrain is going well but there are a few areas I could improve, like matching a ply pattern as opposed to more or less regular streaks. That's on my list to look at.
@rons54383 жыл бұрын
@@lpjmodels when I need to do a specific / matching pattern I tend to draw it with a pencil, carve it in with a knife or scribing tool, and then use an oil wash to create the contrast. I found I could never make just the paint brush do what I want...

That's a good call mate and something I am not shy about doing ( my ki61 is 99% painted) I lost my access to a scanner and printer lately otherwise I would have scanned the decals and printed them off on light card, and used vinyl mask to cut the shapes. There is a big gap in the ww1 aircraft paint mask market

@@lpjmodels and “they” say tech makes life easier. When it works. Right? I just hate on newer/modern aircraft, armor & other vehicles that I have to mix paint & decal because the fine text, or just go ahead and use only decals. A very enjoyable built set, very educational and I found it enjoyable. I have some Wingnut Wings kits myself, but will not start on them until I have gained a little more experience. Like starting with some of the Roden, Special Hobby or Copper State Models set.
@lpjmodels3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, aside from Copper State who's newer kits are amazing, they wnw are easier to build than roden and special hobby. If you take your time with the kit you'll be fine. This is my first completed biplane, all of the others I have done in the past have just fallen to bits when it came to putting on the upper wing.
@junon3pek3 жыл бұрын
@@lpjmodels Thank you for the answer. If I can build the Roden and Special Hobby sets to a result I'm happy with, then I'll probably take the chance with Wingnut Wings. Those kits are way too expensive in the used market, so it is advisable to me to get it right on the first try.

Great build! I appreciate a color scheme that avoids using lozenge decals. I've yet to figure those out and am skeptical that the decal colors will silver over time. Then there is also for me something wrong about covering so much surface area of a model with decals.

Just caught up on this after being away for a few days. That's a great build and I think you made a superb job of the covered over previous colour scheme. These Wingnut models make for excellent details and build quality but, as you say, there is so much "but I know its there" detail. I am actually thinking of having the cockpit as a stand alone model on my next Wingnut build and scratch building enough detail for the cockpit in the aircraft model itself

Hi James, This one slipped by without me noticing. What a fantastic build. New camera and what appears to be better lighting has really upped the quality which was great anyway. What a shame that WNW has gone and I am thankful for the stash that I panic bought last year. Maybe they will reappear in the future. I am glad that the Lancaster is coming out under the Border Model label but having my sensible head on doubt very much that I will get one. Too pricey and where the hell would I put it and I could imagine that it would be a real mojo killer, still would like one though. I wonder if the promised Handley Page 0/100 may appear from another manufacturer. I would love one of those. Mind you I have a Gotha G.IV and Felixstowe in the stash already and they are beyond my skill set/patience at the moment. Thanks for another great video. Best wishes, Mark P.S. The video went down well with a nice large glass of Merlot. lol

Hi Mark thanks for the great feedback ! Lighting is the same at the moment but the camera is a bit more forgiving up to 400iso. That border lanc looks lovely but as you said, the size and the price are a massive turn off. The 0/100 would be epic . Thanks again mate !

Amazing work! I'll have to try that wood grain technique. Btw. have you tested if your rigging wires can be heat shrunk like the Uschi van der Rosten wires. If so you don't have to glue them under tension, in my experience a soldering iron works best to heatshrink rigging wires.
