In this video I build the 1/72 Dora Wings Savoia Marchetti S.55 A. This interwar Seaplane held many records for range and was one of the most prolific aircraft for crossing the atlantic.
Join me as I conquer some tough challenges, print some ridiculously small parts, and add loads of Texture with Oil Paints.

I don't think I've made a model in 45 years, but I've become transfixed with watching build videos over the last few weeks. I couldn't match the quality of finish (and never had the patience for the attention to detail people put in), but I get a lot of enjoyment out of watching people doing it :) - This looks brilliant finished.

Chicago, Illinois, USA: Admiral Balbo brought his squadron ("armada") of SM 55s to our city in 1933. They named a street after him ("Balbo Drive") near the Lake Michigan shoreline. Everybody looks in their US History books, "Who's Admiral Balbo?" (a Fascist from Mussolini's Italy)

That's a very interesting build and subject. I particularly like the exposed engines. i bought one after watching this. The big plain wing is quite a challenge to make interesting but if you are not into 100% scale then perhaps adding some half round styrene rod to make some raised looking ribs would make it look even more of the period. This said you certainly captured the look with your weathering.

Aargh! It really does annoy me to hear people say these models are made of styrene - they are NOT! Styrene is a liquid at room temperature, not a solid, and wouldn't hold its moulded shape for more than a tiny fraction of a second. The material is polystyrene, something quite different.
