LS Engine Pre Priming the Oiling System

In this video I will be pre priming the engine oiling system before I start the engine on the engine stand. This procedure is good for an engine that has not been started in a long period of time or for a new rebuilt engine. I pumped the oil to the top of the engine and then turned the engine a quarter of a turn while pumping the pump up sprayer. I would wait 5 minutes, pump the sprayer and then turn the engine another quarter of a turn until I had made 2 full revolutions with the engine. This ensures proper lubrication before starting the engine.

Pump up sprayer can be purchased online or at your local hardware store such as Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Menards....etc.

It was quick cause it had oil in it. I rebuilt engine will take awhile.

I made 2 changes to mine to move 2 quarts a minute: drill/tap a fitting & valve to use a compressor to boost it up to 25psi, change pick-up tube to a 10mm nylon tube (typical fuel hose size) for more volume. Pumping I could only get 10psi so it was slow AF. I also put a valve at the engine fitting so it would be far less messy when the engine is still in the car.

Why is the Walmart oil not good?

@michaellecount8510 actually wal mart oil is good. I just mentioned using it instead of name brand because it is usually cheaper.
