@@chrisbryant1657 The LS1 and LS2 and LS6 engines are fairly rare in comparison to most other LS/LY/LQ, etc. Production numbers are much higher for the later generation engines as most were installed in a variety of vehicles including trucks & SUVs whereas the LS1, LS2 and LS6 variants were only available in high performance, lower production vehicles. Hey I am kind of new to the whole adding power to the truck scene I have a lq9 engine and I'm wondering what you think the most reliable and affordable way to make between five and six hundred horsepower and also it will be driven often on the streets. Last question would be do you think the 4l65 would hold that much power without kind of destroying it? And is there anything else I should do? Any and all help is very much appreciated I would like to keep it n/a but doesn't necessarily have to be. If I had a choice I would keep it n/a and throw a shot of nitrous if you think that would be a decent idea? And even I would consider a turbo kit to throw on it obviously not a ton of boost but I just don't know the best way to go about it and I don't have anyone to ask
@richardholdener1727

please see for the various hp package videos-500 hp is easy but 600 is more expensive (unless boost) and no, the 4l60 won't handle that power

@@richardholdener1727 D4L 65e even if I were to get it built up still wouldn't be enough? I ask because I just recently got a really good deal on a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.0 vortec Max or lq9 which I'm sure you know it comes with the 4L 65e so I was hoping I didn't have to swap a trans.. but I don't know I'm thinking maybe a decent cam headers already got a intake and full exhaust .. and maybe a 100 shot of nitrous or a decent turbo set up .. which would you say would be more reliable and affordable

The difference in LSA is where it starts making power.. starting lower or higher in the rpm range depending on your combo and stall.. Low LSA=lower rpm power.. higher LSA=higher rpm power.. also TSP does dyno videos of their cams.. search them on KZbin.

The biggest isue with putting adders on a stock LS bottom end is the pistons. The ring lands are to narrow, which allows "burn through," and, the hypertutatic material shatters like a ww2 pineapple granade, destroying the engine. It would be good to know what a stock long-block, sans the stock pistons, would hold, reliably.

I’m swapping the engine into a 3t/6600lbs four wheeled drive wagon and I’ll be hopping to do the right mods to gain fuel economy and power. I’ve had great success with just bolt ons like headers, 100cpi cats, sports mufflers, otr and a fast lsxr manifold with the 92mm tb that made 315hp at the wheels in the donor car which weighs 1000kg/2200lbs less. My question to you would be, what cam would you use for my goal with a stock bottom end? And with match ported heads to the headers and lsxr with the 102mm tb what figures would you expect with your experience??

I’m new but man do I love this channel. Hoping you can help. I have a 03 Monte Carlo with a 5.3 LS small block in it from a 07 SS. What would you suggest to make about 550-650hp?

BOOST
@DodgyBrothersEngineering
@DodgyBrothersEngineering 4 жыл бұрын
Ever heard the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it?... That's boost. Yes there are more expensive ways to make the same power, but it comes at the cost of drivability. The real question is which boost is the right boost for you.
@Hitman-ds1ei
@Hitman-ds1ei 4 жыл бұрын
Unless of course you trying to fit into rules for some racing class etc, we run 6.0L max rule unless your boosted then 3.5L, yeah I know you can make 1000hp boosted 3.0L etc but not for same money looking at here for 600hp
@DodgyBrothersEngineering
@DodgyBrothersEngineering 4 жыл бұрын
@@Hitman-ds1ei yes of course there will always be times you are trying to fit within rules, but for the average punter, it really is hard to pass up the value of a cheap turbo at low hp levels. Let's face it most of us don't have money falling out of our pockets (there was a time, but no longer) and bang for buck it is hard to go past boost.

Recommendations to hit 600? Lq4 block bored and stroked to 408. All forged. Thinking 243 heads fast 92 intake and tb 60lb injectors and dyno tune.

Hey Richard love the videos. Newbie question here. Just got a junkyard 5.3. And would love to build that stroker LOL. So on that 5.3 383 stroker. With the 4 inch crank and 3.905 Bore. What length rod are you guys running and what is the compression height on the piston you are running? Thanks for your help in advance

I love the video's thanks for the info. I have a 1980 Camaro that I put a 454bb with stock bottom, medium Cam, Header, 750 Edelbroc carb, 4speed Muncie. But I also a complete LS3 sitting on the stand. would you swap and what all would you do in either case?
@trashbandit2449
@trashbandit2449 4 жыл бұрын
Depends. If you want it to handle well, the ls3 is way lighter. The 454 will probably make plenty of straight line power though

I want my receipt for a 6.1 HEMI 2010 Challenger.. I already have a Procharger P1sc model with forge pistons and rods.. At 8 pound of boost, It is producing 545 hp with 560 torque at 6800 Rpm to the wheels. I want more power at lower rpm with the same amount of boost.

Mr Richard! I may have a Deal on a 5.3 LS ENGINE. I'm still going to use Nitrous,3.73 Gears and 4l60 Transmission. What size Heads and Cam should I go with for Street and Strip applications with Air Conditioner? For maximum power.
