Man, this is awesome! I’ve got a ‘92 RRC and a 5.3 mated to a 4wd S10 5speed trans ready to go in as well. I’m dropping in to say thanks for documenting it all

Can you tell us what year s10 you pulled the manual 5 speed from?.

Very informative. Awesome job! Sucks a little to have to choke down the exhaust and breather instead of opening her up, but I can see why you did and will be plenty of power anyway. Nice that you were able to pull stock parts from other GM models and not have to get into expensive fab.

I’m trying to do the exact same thing in a 1988 RED Range Rover classic. Difference is I’m using a L33 aluminum 5.3L with a 4L60 & I just want to make it a 2wd drive application. My rear end on the RR is offset. I will definitely need to get insight from you.

you can get away with the offset rear by running a cv shaft (double cardigan).The bigger problem will be the overall strength of the rearend. If you plan on hotroding it i’d either swap the rear to something a little stronger or upgrade the internals

This is awesome! I’m thinking about putting a 5.3 in my Discovery 1. Mechanically, I’m confident I’ll get it done. However, I’m no electrician so the ECU part is what’s getting to me. Obviously, I need the 5.3 ECU to run it, but how much of the Disco ECU do I actually need and how much needs to spliced together? Also, when leaving wires out (on both ECUs) how do you keep from tripping a CEL all the time? Or does it even trip one?

Its fairly straightforward, you disconnect the cel and attach it to the cel output on the chevy ecm.You are killing 2 birds with one stone, it will eliminate the landrover side from throwing a code and enable you be alerted if the chevy side has a code.all of the landrover sensors are reinstalled on the new motor to enable the gauges to function.i will try to do a video on this on the future

What motor mounts did you use or did you fab them yourself?
@wrenchnwithriley30153 жыл бұрын
I used factory chevy truck mounts and attached them to the frame with 2x2 square tubing with ears on both side to bolt up just like factory.
