It's got the same oil pan as the 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine in my Australian built 2002 Holden VY SS Commodore as Holden used to build the 2 door Monaro in left hand drive configuration in Australia, rebadge it as the Pontiac GTO then exported it over to North America. Holden had them purposely made by Chevrolet so the LS1 motor will fit into the Commodore/Monaro Front K frame,AFAIK the oil pan wasn't fitted into any U.S. built vehicles. The engine in the Winnebago is actually a 6 litre iron block Chevrolet LQ4 V8 engine,not the all alloy 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine which is fitted into my Holden Commodore !

i would of gone with a diesel conversion for dodge would be a Cummins 12 valve 6bt from a Ram pickup. since you got the LS in there if down the road if you want to go with the modern 6.6l Duramax diesel as these engines have enough power to push the motorhome. as Cummins they are well knowen for Medium duty trucks and School busses the current Cummins engine for the Ram and bus chassis is the Cummins ISB 6.7l and Navistar is starting to use this engine in the bus and truck chassis. or a Caterpillar 3126 or C7 ACERT would be a choice to push a big motorhome like this. but for the era of this motorhome a diesel conversion would be the mechanically injected ones the engine of choice for dodge would be a Cummins 12 valve 6bt as the ones with the p1700 injection pumps are what they are after. as the engines you can get out of old retired school busses.

Contact me about the M 300 book. I can send you a VIN decoder. Definitely a 1976.
@FuelInjectionSucks6 жыл бұрын
I think I said in the one video these things are weird. They sit around for a few years when new before being titled. I learned this selling parts over the years. Something titled as a 1978 could actually be made in 1975, 76, etc. The title and vin plate say 1978.
@alfred24136 жыл бұрын
Okay. Do you have a vin plate?

Still think you should have put a 24 valve Cummins diesel motor transmission and rear end to match. That RV and still be on the road after 300,000 miles no problem.

YES!! finally someone builds a turbo LS RV! I had this in my head for years and finally someone is doing it!
@ROTAXD6 жыл бұрын
I love the idea, but why a 6.0 and a junk turbo ? If you're going to do a project like this, especially with a Winnie in such good shape, do it right or don't bother. Done properly you'd have used a 572, a 6L80 and a garrett. Now you've got a 4l80 and a used 6.0 with a cheap chinese turbo. Shit, would've been easier to build the 440 & 727 and find a 2 speed rear.
@FuelInjectionSucks6 жыл бұрын
All those options would have been twice if not more the budget, and would have consumed much more fuel. The owner has used turbo LS's in many projects, same with 4L80's, with great results and reliability for years.
@jigmetv84976 жыл бұрын
@@FuelInjectionSucks some peoples kids I'd like to know what a turbo'd 572 with a 6l80 would actually cost lol
@ROTAXD6 жыл бұрын
laintime why in tf would you turbo a 572 ? There's no need. As for the owner deciding to use a 6-0 and the 4 speed...it's his truck. Were it mine, I'd have done it differently.

so now that you went turbo you going to upgrade the cam and valve springs too or are you going to try to pump extra air through a stock cam ? and you running a intercooler i hope ?
@FuelInjectionSucks6 жыл бұрын
Stock valvetrain. There will be an intercooler.
@obrienracing16 жыл бұрын
Only going to run 10-12psi, intercooler and meth injection. Stock cam and springs. Not making a race car out of it. Just want some extra torque and horsepower.
@bigce6 жыл бұрын
Might want to look at adding a second wastegate. I doubt one is going to be enough, I assume it's going to be low boost and that eBay Turbo is probably small on the turbine side already.
@FuelInjectionSucks6 жыл бұрын
It's a 60MM gate.
@obrienracing16 жыл бұрын
Chad Endersby we run the same exact setup/wastegate placement on 2500pickup. It runs under 14psi no problem. 60mm gate can pretty much control everything regardless of poor placement.
@bigce6 жыл бұрын
Time will tell I guess. I've got a 7875 on a 5.3 and a 60mm gate on the housing and it creeps on anything less than 10pounds.
@bennetfox6 жыл бұрын
If it had a 440 in it then why are you putting a 350 in it? How come not a 454?
@FuelInjectionSucks6 жыл бұрын
Its not a 350, its a 6.0 so its a 366. The 440 made 220hp, the 6.0 makes 345 before the turbo. Your average smog 454 makes around 300. The 6.0 is cheaper, stronger in stock form, and will get better mpg.
@bennetfox6 жыл бұрын
Fuel Injection Sucks wow it looks like you guys have this down to a science! One more question, my other choice would have been a Cummins diesel inline 6-cylinder. Thoughts?
@FuelInjectionSucks6 жыл бұрын
That would have worked great, but would have doubled the budget of this project.
@bennetfox6 жыл бұрын
Fuel Injection Sucks thank you much for the information! I stumbled across your video and wanted to get caught up to speed really quick. Good luck and I hope you guys are successful in this endeavor! Are you guys using a Chrysler or a GM transmission?

I need the trans cooler is the least of your worries I think the transmission should be performance built to handle the extra torque that this turbo Motors going to throw at it I wore out to 4 L 80 E in my Suburban can imagine pushing Grandma's house down the road along that Transmissions going to last looks like a good install so far keep it up

Yea even with the turbo it's going to be under powered. Big blocks has tons of tourqe that's why they put them in there. You will be very unhappy with the LS engine. LS engine's are great engine's. P7t a 454 in it with the turbo
@FuelInjectionSucks6 жыл бұрын
Its going to conservatively be 400-500hp. I have a 454 in a 3/4 ton truck, this thing will outrun it.
@Wanous-hv7zo6 жыл бұрын
Fuel Injection Sucks I bet money on it the 454 wins that one. My boss has a 2015 Chevy 1 ton 6.0 345 hp my 1999 1 ton vortec 454 runs circles around it with way less hp cause it has big block tourqe. That rv will be a turd and you ain't got no 400 to 500 hp either. Not with the pics I see
@TH3C0016 жыл бұрын
+1970 olds442 I saw a guy stick a turbo 6.0 in a Chevy Colorado. He conservatively estimated it made somewhere around 400 hp. He finally put it in the dyno and found it made around 600+ hp. It's on Regular Car Reviews channel. This Winnebago's setup will be perfect.
@masterpoop676 жыл бұрын
