Well Dan, You more balls than brains working in a space only big enough for a honey badger to dig in but you got it done and I am proud of you for seeing the progress. I'm thinking since its your money I am offering to spend, maybe a wiring disconnect for the harness that goes across the front so it kinda hooks up like trailer wires or something you can plug or unplug and get that stuff out of the way when removing stuff.. just saying cause after its over, you can just unplug athen pull stuff out ... quick change.. something like that. I like the shout out that mrhevyshevy gave you as he sounds impressed with your work. I sent him that condensed link like three times so he would be sure to get it case he just looked at the mailbag here and there. Answering all these is a full time job on the comments as you well know by now. Wish I was there doing grunt work as there is shit to mop like fluids that get away and antifreeze that comes out after you drain five times, it pours more out stuff, you got the picture. I noticed that you have a drive by wire intake. There are a couple of approaches to this, #1 go get the electronic gas pedal out of the vehicle that the engine came from along with the TAC module or # 2 remove the throttle body and replace it with a cable driven throttle body. Look for a PCM that has service number 12200411, this box can be used with drive by wire, or drive by cable, just tell the person that tunes your box what you have so he can turn on whatever setup you use. He can also delete things such as EGR, AIR, Purge, A/C, cats, rear O2 sensors, non electronic trans, and VATS. PCM of North Carolina did my PCM flash, really good people, they have a quick turn around. I got the HOT Rod startup done to my box done. Fill out the form on their web site, drop the PCM in a box with contact info, and they will fix you up.

I'm old enough to remember when cars of the 30's and 40's were considered valuable. My neighbor 8 houses down in 1965 offered me a whole red & white '57 chevy convertible (with 80,000 on the clock) and a fair top free because he pulled out the 283 Cu. and wanted to put it in a chevy II. I didn't want it because I didn't have a motor for it and anyway for $75 bucks I bought a whole 1957 Ford skyliner hard top convertible with a running engine! (6 cylinders back then were considered "old man" engines and noOne wanted them).

Hey great video, I have a 57 2dr post with a 265V8 and a 2 sp power glide trans. I'm getting ready to pull the old motor out. I have been tossing around the idea of putting in a LS. I was curious to get your input or recommendations on what would be the best options, I'm trying to go on a budget too. But the only thing kind of scaring me away me from doing the LS is what seems like all the extra wiring and computer and poss reprogramming the PCM to make it work that needs to go with it. Is it just as easy as tucking the PCM in some where and just getting power to the LS? or what might the kinks be I might run into along the way I guess is what I'm asking. thanks

Dude I'm jealous lol so I got a question for you I was thinking about doing a motor swap in my four-door 57 but the only engine that I already have to throw in it came out of a 2007 Monte Carlo SS it's the 5.3 L LS4. What are your thoughts on if I was to do that in the future I know I have a big project ahead of me but like I said before your inspiration on 4 door to 2 door conversion really inspired me to do so. I'm hoping by mid-January I could start the process but I figured I would ask what your thoughts would be of an LS4 swap into it.

I’ve never installed an LS in anything it wasn’t designed to be in already so I’m no help. I would’ve just stuffed a mild BBC in that car cause I’m sorta old school. You should look into a small radiant gas heater for your shop. They aren’t crazy expensive aside from running gas lines to the garage. I looked into it not long ago. Not sure what that’d do to your house insurance rates tho. I want to put a wood stove in my shop but that’s not allowed here unless I want to tear up my insurance policy. Good luck with the swap man.

Make sure you remove the spacer at the back of the crank if you're not running a 4L80 or something with the same depth. The first time i did a 6.0 swap in 2008, i didn't know you had to remove that to go on a 4L60e and jammed the converter into the pump, which basically wrecked the whole trans. EDIT: Disregard. I forgot the LQ9 came with a 4L65e and doesn't have the spacer... but for future reference if you get an LQ4.....

What do you do for the rear glass? Where the rear door was.
