Enjoy learning, you sure do a lot of work for a One Man Band. Love all the videos and how you hit it head on and no stopping to try to figure it ou.t ..You have been there done that., so we can learn from your experence. I always wondered what was involved in such a swap for the tri-fives.

Those hands! You’d have made one hell of a surgeon… just saying. Your “parts is parts” easy going attitude is amazing. If there’s a way to make things work out, you always find it but more importantly you do it with little to no stress! Pretty rare in the wrench world lol… I’m thinking Pablo wants a little one on one time with dad, maybe a top down day trip with him, he’s such a good boy! Thanks for taking us along, I appreciate it because it’s always a learning thing for me anyway, watching your thought process gets my wheels turning upstairs for thoughts and ideas I can apply to my own projects. I’m not afraid to think out of the box either, so again, thank you for taking us along.

If you will turn your frequency up on the AC setting it will clean the metal for you as it welds and do a much better job. We do a lot of engines in our shop this is a tip we found. But you still have to grin the Metal clean before you start but this will take care of the impurities in the metal. Found this tape on KZbin when I first got started.

Back in the day when I cut and altered sheet metal oil pans on small block Chryslers after welding we'd fill them with gasoline and let them set. If they hold gasoline they'll hold oil. If there are leaks they show up quickly.

@ANOCKS
@ANOCKS 3 жыл бұрын
@John Johnson have you ever tried to find a nice 56 two-door post? I'll bet the answer is no and if you do they are big bucks. If you have the skills to the thing you do is buy a four-door and convert it yourself period. You save thousands and when you sell it you'll make thousands. Any other questions?
@ANOCKS
@ANOCKS 3 жыл бұрын
@John Johnson yes! Did you know that Brent and others are making teachable car videos? And when they are done with the car they sell it to make room for the next project. You can't keep them all unless you're a billionaire or something my suggestion to Brent 2 convert to 4 door to a 2 door was nothing more than an idea for a new series of teaching videos. I'm sure you understand now, right?

This will be a great project I am so glad your sharing it. Love fixing up the old Rides with newer Iron. I can not explain why but projects like this are so heart warming. We had these classics we all were driven around in them as kids and here you go pulling that tired or 6 and putting an up to date LS aluminum V8 . It looks so comfortable. And to watch you get those broken bolts out is just a treat. Weld the washer, weld the nut still red hot get a wrench on that dude lets get this broken bolt outta here. Such a wild man. Radiators of the 50-60s often had trans coolers in them regardless of transmission choice. They blocked off the passages on the manual models. It made the radiators a single part number for the engine choice (v-8s and straight 6s usually were a different size core).

Oil pan castings usually have a bunch of garbage inside the casting, making them very hard to repair or modify. The garbage comes out and contaminates the weld when heated up. Usually it is better to heat the casting in an oven, then clean it to remove oils forced out of the casting, and while still hot welding them up. A lot of the time using an aluminum soldering rod works better on dirty castings, unless you are trying to bridge a large gap. Silver-tin aluminum rods work better, and if your tig machine can adjust for it, you can use it to melt the rod onto the casting.
