the section around 21 minutes in, where LS says febiven might be dismissive of his view of the game out of fear really hits the nail on the head i think for why so many players dislike LS and this sort of deep analysis. theres definitely moments where you think you are good at something but then discover there is so much more that you could be doing, and the cognitive dissonance you experience there can make you really uncomfortable and even afraid.

Ruddy helped me understand why I don't really watch LS despite agreeing with his views on the game and liking the guy, it's probably his 'lexicon' and the way he expresses his ideas in the language. He's very sporadic and spontaneous, all the time. It's also hard to listen to what feels like memey inside catchphrases all the time like 'sinning'.

1:22:00 If I'm remembering correctly, LS has said that people should think of draft only in terms of champions and not who is playing the champions. IIRC, he's also said that he dislikes comfort picks, thus players should play the supposedly stronger champion even with less experience with said champion. I've tried to find a yt video of him saying something along those lines, but can't find it. Maybe I heard it on stream where there's no more twitch vods for korea or they got deleted due to dmca music scares.
@ThatLuckyKill
@ThatLuckyKill 11 ай бұрын
As a regular watcher of LS i can assure you thats what he is saying when he is going on about draft. His reasoning why comfort picks are stupid is because when a new champ comes out, suddenly the whole world can play it after a single week. So it should be doable for every champion especially for well known old champions.
@rayaqin
@rayaqin 15 күн бұрын
@@ThatLuckyKill Doesn't he say that when he talks about the theory of drafting he ignores comfort picks, instead of saying comfort picks are stupid? Obviously in a very high pressure situation comfort picks matter a lot.

I wondered if the reason the Red deck style is more prevalent is because you are killing your opponent (champions or creatures) and so in their minds people feel like they are being more active and doing more, even maybe winning more through dealing face damage etc. So that makes them feel better as a player than the control player who is waiting for openings, biding time and being less "active" in the game. Similar to how an assassin "hands" player in league is roaming, getting kills etc feels more active and winning because of KD etc which in their mind is more exciting and glamorous than playing a control mage who is farming and scaling for later and controlling the map. I think it may just come down to an ego thing. which strokes the ego more or feels better in the moment? Whatever gets those dopamine receptors going the fastest. I've been a U/B MtG player forever anyway so guess I'm a willing part of the 9%.

45:22 As a lifelong (12 years) mtg player, LS kind of lost me here. In my experience, people actually prefer the control playstyle with lilianas and jaces, big counter spells like cryptic command and strong information spells like thoughtsieze. How else could you explain why control decks usually cost 2x-3x the cost of an aggro or combo deck? Edit: I just heard him call the color blue “control” which is a complete oversimplification of the color. Blue is the most versatile color (like water) it can take any shape from full on aggro to midrange/tempo to control.

LS is an activist observing that a vast majority of people are misinformed and misguided. Often, what he says is overlooked because people are insecure and try to uphold the status quo and the norm for whatever reason. Many prefer to engage in debate perversion rather than genuinely listening and assessing LS's viewpoints on their logical merits. I can draw parallels to many current global issues. A notable example is the discourse surrounding israel's right to self-defense. However, this debate often misses the actual point: The unethical bombardment of Gaza, where children comprise half of the population. Discussions frequently deviate into different arguments ("Do you condemn the terrorists?", "No, you started the war!", "Well, you can't trust this side."), while the logical consensus should be that bombing Gaza is collective punishment, immoral and fire should be ceased immediately. In my own country we face severe housing shortage. No one cares because the majority become complacent with what they have. This is where people like LS come in and fight this complacency. Highly intelligent people, oftentimes autistic because they are not confined by societal norms. Much of activism aligns with autistic traits.
@sky_pirate
@sky_pirate 11 ай бұрын
You literally just put out a whole geopolitical screed calling the majority of people misinformed or misguided, but you trust the opinions of people who admittedly struggle to socialize. Yet, the majority of people capable of tackling uncomfortable or exhausting issues are extremely socially competent. So you're admitting activists are idiots, or you're simply one of the majority you call misinformed.
@GaoyuanFanboy123
@GaoyuanFanboy123 11 ай бұрын
@sky_pirate Im not sure if im getting your argument? Are you saying autistic people struggle to socialize and therefore i shouldnt trust them? I think autistic people are socially competent. If you think they arent, i think youre misguided on what autism means. my goal with my initial comment was never to argue that autistic people make great activists tho. it was simply a remark about how autistic traits align with the nature of activism or revolutionaries.

@@GaoyuanFanboy123i agree with what you said and think it’s novel. Also (you probably already know this) but autistic people have two traits which make them incredible analysts. What you said about israel/gaza conflict isn't related to LS imo. You just said your thoughts on the conflict. What you said is in no way profound or morally better than other people's opinions on the subject. "Do you condemn terrorists" is an important question when there are people out there defending terrorists. The line about the logical conclusion that gaza being a collective punishment is super cring. "logical conclusion" as if no one can have a differing opinion
