Can you delete the ac pulley, or does it need to be installed with that set up?

I had the same question. As I don't run ac
@chuckwolfe

Yeah, you don’t need to use the ac pulley if you’re not going to run AC
@zachstumpf1962
@zachstumpf1962 4 ай бұрын
According to Ati you should use all 9 bolts. meaning yes you should run the pulley

that is so stupid damn so now i have to buy tools too,why couldnt they just use regular torx i swear and i am having hell getting the hub to seat all the way down on thew crank ive got about a 1/4 inch to go but i cant keep it from turning so im trying to make something to keep it from turning,my rachet straps are stretching,i usually use just one to remove the oem balancer on my 6.0 LS and reinstall but not with this hub,any ideas please someone
@jessebunker6062
@jessebunker6062 Жыл бұрын
Remove all of the bolts that you have installed. Then use the three threaded holes to jack screw the hub fron the pulley. Then clean the inside of the hub, make sure the dot is in the correct position, and try assembly again. Go slow, then remove bolts one at a time ,apply loctite, and torque. Your home.

@@jessebunker6062 oh i got it,but it was hard as hell to get it to go on,the oem balancer i can do that in like 10 minutes,anyways the other part that sucked for me was routing the piping and the rubber sleeves,but its running,i made like 550 fpt to the tires with me shifting to soon at 5200 rpms haha then i ran out of injectors which i knew i was going to do,ive got some bigger ones but my tuner wants to try something else first,some operating system pulsating the injectors,i have no idea what that means lol,thanks

No. I had an Innovators West balancer on my supercharged Mustang a few years ago and was satisfied with it. But I haven't run a TCI yet.

I have heard to maybe heat the hub up with a cool engine to help press the hub in? It that correct or internet jumbled
@ScrufsGarage
@ScrufsGarage 5 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, but be careful not to damage the rubber portion of the damper. The top of page 4 in the instructions discusses heating aluminum hubs by placing them in a pot of boiling water for 5 mins. www.atiracing.com/instructions/Super-Damper.pdf

Can they only be assembled the one way? I don't think I lined up the offset hole on the damper with the indexed mark on the crank hub. Everything bolted together perfect but...
@ScrufsGarage
@ScrufsGarage 6 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't recall if there was a way to assembly it w/o lining up the index mark. I'm guessing you already have it installed on the car? If you're nervous about it, you could call the ATI tech line and ask them. I would do that before I went through the hassle of removing it from the engine. I think you're gonna be fine though. Let me know how it goes.

What size bits are TP40
@ScrufsGarage
@ScrufsGarage Жыл бұрын
TP40 is a Torx Plus 40. So TP40 is the size. But note that Torx Plus bits are slightly different than regular Torx bits.

If i delete the ac do I still need to add a ac pulley?
@ScrufsGarage
@ScrufsGarage 6 жыл бұрын
Good question. My default answer is going to be check with ATI; I don't want to steer you wrong. I thought there was a separate part # for w/o ac, but I can't find it now. The rear ac pulley doesn't impact how far the hub would seat on the crank, so that shouldn't be a problem. You have 6 bolts that bolt the main pulley to the hub... but you would lose the 3 bolts that pass through the main pulley and hub and thread into the ac pulley. Only ATI could tell you if the 6 bolts are sufficient, or if all 9 are required. Also, removing the ac pulley would change the total weight of the balancer, so I'm not sure what effect that would have on the dampening... probably minimal. But again, a quick call to ATI would be best. Let us know what you determine.

no buy a race one. duh
@chuckwolfe
@chuckwolfe Жыл бұрын
No, you need to use 9 bolts, so where the shorter 12 pt bolts are is what you’ll use to mount your sc pulley with their hardware, and the notaped holes that the ac pulley go would be open/empty

Why not the Fluidamper brand? Many have said its much better and lasts longer
@ScrufsGarage
@ScrufsGarage 4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think both products are probably very good. In all of my research I never read anything bad about ATI, and they are used in some very serious race engines. But that's not to say Fluidamper isn't also very good. I ran an Innovators West unit on my supercharger 4.6 Mustang in the past and had good results with that as well. So there are several good options available.

Scruf's Garage Makes me wonder what harmonic balancer high RPM NASCAR Engines use and Formula 1 Cars and Koenigsegg. What I don’t like about the Fluidamper is the rotating weight, seems it would put twisting stress on the end of the crank where it bolts up when fast revving and braking/slowing down the engine. What I don’t like about and have seen with the ATI damper is the rubber cracking and separating. To me the solution would be using high quality/high temp/oven type silicone in place of rubber.
