ive used a caulking/silicone tube nozzle or Artliner cap and cut to size with success for trans line fittings should work on the fuel line
@HackshopGarage4 жыл бұрын
Good idea. We will give that a go next time

You guys with those fuel line clips on the LS rail crack me up!!! There are these magic plastic tools that work mint! Only released in the late 90s😂 As mentioned by others caulking gun nozzle or the like works

The oval pipe is a great way to keep the same 'cross sectional area' ( the phrase you were looking for 😉🤣) of big diameter pipe without sacrificing ground clearance 👌🏻 Liam's done a great job on it, well done bud 👍🏻

Curious what the cost difference is compared to the usual round pipes? Wouldn't mind using the oval type on my turbo vn v6 to get as much clearance as possible as I'll need 3" minimum so I don't chock up the turbo and I know 3 inch on a vn can hang down a bit too low.
@HackshopGarage4 жыл бұрын
It’s a fair bit more expensive. I think by memory liam said it was about $100 a meter for stainless 3”
@TorqHub4 жыл бұрын
@@5lcalais1 Oval pipe is WAYYY more expensive that straight round pipe. 3" on a VN isn't too bad anyhow bud. If you're making it from scratch you can do a much better job than the off the shelf systems 👍🏻We've done a 4" dump on a VP (had to notch the firewall) and will be running a twin 3" in that car when we get back to it. Also got a single 3" on a VS ute and twin 3" on a VR sedan.

I once had to open up the plastic cradle to fit a 255 pump and used a lighter to melt the plastic lol

Nothing to do with mounting a fuel pump but once my fuel pump relay died on my EL falcon station wagon, so I connected the pump wires to tail lights. Was good enough to get me home.

I noticed that you boys when making your battery cables - you are doing the hotpot method of solder into the terminal and then keeping it hot while the conductors are 'gently' :) offered into the terminal. Whats your stance on crimping vs solder in battery cables? I'm just interested hearing.
@HackshopGarage4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, to be honest, I like to do both where possible, if I can, I will crimp them as well as hear the terminal and feed some solder in if they have an opening to allow it, just to be sure. I have no idea if that’s good or bad. Or which method alone is better. It’s just the way I like to do it and havnt had any issues as yet with it.

Dreading doing my fuel pump in my turbo v6 vn, it's not a fun job lol I did modify my loom to relocate coil packs and get it away from the exhaust manifolds, was my 1st go at doing a harness and it was actually easier than I thought 👌 Though it's only a vn v6 so they're isn't much to the harness anyway 😂

@@HackshopGarage thanks 👍 Yeah hopefully, if I can get it finished this yr lol Just a stock v6 with a stock rebuild with arp head studs, all new seals n gaskets, tony'z turbo garage turbo kit (gt3582r) ,converted to t5, should hopefully see around 350bhp and around 600/650 nms give or take , and hoping to go high 11s 🤞 but I'd be happy with mid 12s which is probably more realistic lol Gonna be engineered and gonna be my daily driver/weekend warrior 👌 Wanted something fun n cool to drive daily and build something wilder for the track. The ol 2001 Mitsubishi challenger i currently daily is boring af to drive and coming up to 320,000ks which is around when the ol v6s in them love blow up 😂

Love this build bit I’m a bit confused, am I missing where you guys solved the start motor hitting the body? I thought you guys ordered some small start motor?
@HackshopGarage4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, That will be covered in the next episode of the GMW I believe (I havnt edited it yet, so not sure what will be in it) but, we did get a different starter motor, a supposeded mini one.. which turned out to actually be bigger than standard, so we then made a few adjustments to the steering rack and engine mounts again and we were able to get a standard starter to fit.. just

Oh nice, that’s awesome to hear. A bugger about the rust, but it’s not uncommon in the old BMW’s, but once it’s done it’ll be worth it. Thanks mate, glad you are enjoying the build series.
