Thanks for that really good review, seen them at a reduced price as it's been replaced by the ls2 valiant 2. Some changes to the ventilation, but basically the same mechanism etc.

Thanks so much for the idea of getting the next larger size cheek pads. Mine was putting major pressure on my cheeks and causing pain. I just ordered the large cheek pads for my medium helmet. I love mine as well.

Love this helmet. The cheek pads did finally break in for me so I didn't have to change them out. Great review, I did get the cardo black jbl installed on this helmet with the 45mm speakers no problem.

Hi Gary, Thanks for the review, but I'd like to correct one point. You are right that the Valiant comes in two shell sizes, but the break is XS - L for the small shell and XL-3XL in the larger shell. Thanks again!

@@LS2HelmetsUS he mentioned he swapped to a larger size pads, i bought a 2xl and still fit tight then i bought a 3xl and fit tight still why is that my head mesures 63MM or size 8 hat i have a round head by the time i tried it on during the pandemic of 2020 it was too late to return so im stuck with a 2xl helmet i dont use if there are pads that i can swap out (3xl dont fit i was able to return it on time, still tight) are there any other pads i can use?

Great review! Having a long oval shaped head, I’m limited to only a few modular helmets. LS2 keeps popping up n my searches so I went in search of a good users review. After seeing this, I think I will be ordering the new version 2 Valiant helmet which is in pre-order status at the time of this reply.

Over all its a great helmet an excellent fit for people who wear glasses full time note with thinner frames, the sun shield also clears glasses, the 180 flip up chin guard is great so it dosent feel like your head is on a bobble being that others sit higher when flipped up

The regular Cardo speakers will go right in but if you want to use the JBL versions plan to use a razor blade or xacto knife to trim the speaker pocket a little larger. It only took me about 10 minutes to do, it’s not difficult as long as you are comfortable trimming the new helmet.

Take cheek pads out of helmet and put some weights on them to squeeze them, helps break them in very quickly..I have the blackout edition, very happy with it...

I have the identical setup...down to the color, the packtalk and the go pro mount on the chin. The unexpected benefit of the later is shooting backwards...works awesome! My riding buddies love the footage :-) LS2's US distributor gives excellent customer service. I had an issue with a pinlock I bought from pinlock.com not fitting in my stock face shield (didn't have the "posts"). The LS2 distributor, sent me a new faceshield and pinlock! I was blown away. Used it for the first time today. Besides the helmet being a little heavy and a little noisy (which almost all modular helmets are), I love the helmet.

That is great news! I have not yet had an issue yet to take to customer service but that is great with the pinlock. I have yet to give that a try with this helmet.

I know this video is a couple of years old but I just purchased the LS2 just like the videos and I love it but am having a aproblem with the vent on top vibrating at higher speeds, above 60 and its definetly noticable, what do you recommend? Was purchased at my local Honda dealer. Thanks

I have bike-to-bike comm and listen to music, how is it with regards to external noise levels and noise when the vents are open. My Arai gets noisy when the two little vents on top are open. Thanks, good review!

Hello Fellow Rider’s, communication on one and can I add a front and rear camera? A question I need help with. TIA to anyone with suggestions. I can’t do a full face helmet and I live outside of a LA, CA. I have a half HD helmet and hubby is worried about a half face helmet. Bad Driver’s more than any place I’m aware of. Hubby doesn’t ride.

You mentioned a GoPro audio pack connected to your comm system? Can you elaborate on your setup?

I use the GoPro audio adapter connected to the GoPro on my helmet which connects a lav mic that I have attached to my existing cardo mic boom in my helmet so that boom has the regular cardo mic plus the extra mic to the GoPro. I do not record anything from my comm system.

Thanks for this detailed review. I am about to get a refund for a faulty HJC IS-Max II helmet and your review has made my mind up to pay a little more and upgrade to this LS2 helmet. It seems to have everything I want including the ability to ride open faced. May I just ask can the clear visor be used in the open faced position for protection?

It can and you may want to look at the new Valiant II. I have not had hands on one yet but they claim to have made improvements over the original valiant.

I've scrolled down a few comments and havent found the question, so here it is. What about noise ? I know its a modular and will be noisy. But, you know, how bad is it ? Also, how is the air flow to your eyes when you ride with chin bar open ? Do you get the air right into your eyes ? Finally, is it the gray one or the matte titanium that you got there ?

The noise level is subjective but you are right, being modular it is definitely noisier than a good full face. Also, is it as quiet as my Shoei Neotec 2? Definitely not but the Valiant is also half the price so not a fair comparison. In my opinion the noise has never been an issue for me and I think very usable for a modular at this price point. My understanding is that improvements have been made to the new Valiant 2 that should help reduce noise but I have not been able to get my hands on one to test. As far as air flow, in really hot conditions I have flipped the chin bar back when riding at highway speed with no issues just using the visor but that has been on a bike with pretty good wind protection. Last, that is the matte titanium.

How is the viewport in terms of peripheral vision... love the helmet, have been looking at dual use helmets like Scorpion Adx2, and Nexx wed2, just due to the extra large viewport.

It is a pretty average field of view for a full face helmet. Like many on road helmets the field of view is noticeably smaller when I switch over to my ADV helmets like the Klim Krios Pro or Scorpion EXO-AT950. Your thought would be correct if going for maximum field of view.

I personally do not find this helmet to be any louder than any other helmet I have used over the years and can run a 600 mile day in it without any need or want for earplugs. However, noise level is very subjective in my opinion and varies greatly on the bike being ridden. My bikes have very good wind protection to begin with, so wind noise is already reduced greatly by that. Someone using this helmet on a bike with less wind protection at highway speed may have a very different opinion.

@harmonic soofi valid concern with the vmax. Being modular, this helmet probably won’t compete with a good regular full face in terms of noise reduction in your use case.

I only felt a drop or two come in one time during a heavy downpour and it was forced into the top vent which I closed during that downpour and had no further issues. Oddly enough I don’t think I have any footage with the chin bar open because I always flip the chin bar down while filming on the bike because my primary forward facing camera that I film with is mounted to the chin bar then I flip it back open after recording.

Gary Lofgren thanks for replying so quickly. I’m planning on buying my first bike (I’m 35) in January and really want a modular but don’t like the big sails most modulars have. I want to ride open face around town and on short rides but definitely want the versatility of closing the face for inclement weather or long rides.

Matt Metcalf those are a lot of the same requirements I had after many years of constantly switching between helmets and interested me in the valiant as a good all in one solution and it’s worked great for that. In warm weather around town I normally ride with the chin bar open and the sun visor down.

It’s my only modular helmet and being a modular it is unfortunately a little noisier than my other full face helmets but really not by a lot and definitely nothing unacceptable as it’s still my preferred helmet right now. The chin curtain is really just a small “pleather” strip on the edge of the chin bar versus the larger chin curtains on a regular full face which plays some role in slightly increased noise. I have rode long days and been able to enjoy my music without the noise ever becoming an issue.

In my experience with rain, I had one drop of water leak inside over the course of an entire heavy downpour from having the top vent open. Leaking has not been an issue for me.

No need for anything extra, the adhesive mount and mic included with the regular Cardo kit worked perfectly.

This review is a bit too forgiving. LS2 helmets still run small. LS2 updated the shape to accommodate a round oval shape, but I recommend you try one size larger. It is also a heavy helmet with lots of wind noise! Ventilation is poor when closed. If it gets hot, you need to flip the chin bar back.

Since it is a modular you can’t expect that it will ever be as quiet as a regular premium full face but I have been very happy with the sound levels and have done 12 hour days on the bike listening to music in the helmet and sound levels have never been an issue. Of course, sound levels can also be greatly influenced by the bike you are riding and the amount of wind protection it provides.

Hi Gary, I have both cardo packtalk bold and slim. Can I install cardo packtalk slim on this helmet? Also how do you fish the wiring around the wire on neckliner?

I know the Packtalk Bold very well but have never installed or used the slim version yet so cannot be 100% sure. But if it’s mounting clamps are similar to the regular Bold, then they may not work. The bottom edge of the shell is much thicker than my other helmets creating some issues getting it to fit properly and the visor control also causes some interference which required me to use the adhesive mount for the Bold instead of the clamp. If the slim has an adhesive option like the regular Bold then there will be no issues but if using the clamp mount, I can’t be 100% sure at this time but would expect some issues.

You may want to compare the weight of the two helmets. The Valiant is 3.75 pounds and has not caused me any neck pain even during a 6 day 2400 mile ride but everyone’s results can be different when it comes to neck pain. I had the same concern when I bought the helmet but I have not had any issues to this point.

they are certified in open and closed position, so when you close it, make sure it locks in place.

how is the wind noise in that thing i bought the same helmet with out doing any kind of homework. and i found that this helmet is really noisy well at least mine is. do you experience the same issue ? that's the only problem with it but i was spoiled with a borrowed Shoei for my first couple rides and that thing was silent. let me add that i have a naked sportbike Honda Hornet. so no windshield so that is a possible difference

The lack of windshield makes a big difference I have had no issues with noise in this helmet and listen to my music comfortably via Bluetooth. Now is it as quiet as my Shoei Neotec 2? It’s not, but the Shoei is a very different class of helmet based on price. All that said, I used the LS2 on a 2,400 mile trip that included some 12 hour days and I was never concerned about noise levels.

It's really of no benefit to mount a cam to the chin because you have to leave the helmet in the closed position, so you may as well not have a modular helmet.
