LS4 Tech: Turbo Manifold Discussion

In this tech clip we examine the shortcomings of the LS4 exhaust manifold design. I share my approach to building turbo manifolds which have been proven to support in excess of 1000whp.
When looking for schedule 10 stainless pipe you will wan't to reference a sizing chart. Sch 10 pipe does not use standard "OD" sizing commonly applied to exhaust tubing. Instead it uses a Nominal Pipe Size (NPS). You can find a chart and excellent description of the material here:

I'd agree the crossover will not cook the transmission but a wrap would help most of the heat and energy inside the pipe vs in your engine bay.

For the LS log manifold the one with the sch 10 pipe on it, what filler rod did you use and did you do any pre/post heating?

For a newbie with MIG, what is easier to weld, schedule 10 to the cast manifold, or 304 gauge 16 or 409 gauge 16 to the cast manifolds?

How much would you charge for modded manifolds like that?

Everyday FPV if you supply the manifolds, it would be about 4-500. About 200 in materials and few hours of labor.

Brandon I tried emailing you a couple of weeks back (2/21)and never got a response. I'm starting my 1st LS4 Swap.....well not just my first LS4 Swap....also my first LS swap (might as well go big or go home, right?) and was looking for some info on doing an LS4/F40 6spd swap. I'll re-email you the details but it looks like I'm going to need a pan, starter and some vband manifolds from ya, let me if I need to donate a kidney or not.

The best is when your holding the pipe and v-band clamp, then you accidentally drop the nut and spend 1/2h looking for it 😖

Mod Everything thats why i love the thumb latches on the vibrant pieces. Leave the nut loose on the t-bolt and flip the latch.

You can get better manifolds to get from the aftermarket and the ls7 oem. The stock stuff was made for stock use.
