see people argue "well scooby doo always had cameos" but the thing IS those cameos were always major characters in the plot, typically tied to the villain's plans in some way or at least tried to help solve the mystery in their own way. Here, Simon Cowell just shows up for a few seconds, disses scooby and shaggy and then fucks off forever. Even the weird Harlon Ellison cameo in Mystery Incorporated wasn't like THAT. (hope I remembered the name right)

Falcon's side-kick is Dee Dee from Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels, yet they never mention it at all in the movie, so she comes across as a completely new character. But all the voice acting and the controversy of booting out established actors, I find them keeping Welker the most bizarre, found his voice quite jarring as he has serious "old man" voice in it, especially noticible in Scooby's pup scenes. But it's almost as disconnecting as Sean Connery's lines in the From Russia with Love PS2 game.

There was a cute episode of Mystery Incorporated- Mystery Solvers Club State Finals, episode 14, season 1- that had that as a premise, more or less (it was ultimately revealed to be Scooby’s fever dream). Also, if we have the company’s superheroes running around, it’s not *wholly* implausible for all those groups to develop? All the monsters are basically d-lister villains (later incarnations switch up the motivations, incorporating theft, sabotage, revenge, and sibling rivalries, rather than just fraud, as motivations), and kids get up to stupid shit- teenagers decide to become paranormal investigators (not uncommon irl, just nothing interesting happens), and instead of coming across nothing end up encountering a crime in progress because of super criminals trying to be clever, and this keeps happening, then these things just evolve naturally from all the weird crime. Or we can take a thing from Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated and have the weird crime be caused by extradimensional beings influencing people into doing that stuff by their very presence, and all the mascots (and other talking/anthropomorphic animals) being the descendants of such beings. In either scenario, the Flintstones and Jetsons would be set in different times entirely, either not appearing or only accessible via time travel- although the possibility for a Land of the Lost-type thing with Bedrock is also possible, and allows for more interactions.

I think I've heard the original plot was something similar - Blue Falcon and Dynomutt are putting together an Avengers-style team, Shaggy and Scooby apply since they're sick of being considered the weaker members of Mystery Inc and the movie was them constantly trying to prove themselves heroic and competent. The fact is that the voice cast wasn't always the same. Voice actors are humans like us and they're not immortal. With that said, it sucks that they weren't called(only the voice for Scooby was). I had an unfortunate experience with the VA of Daphne, because when I met her, I was just asking for an autograph, but she ignored me and preferred to do something else. I was very sad that day.

There are only two things I like about this movie: two. I love how it shows how Shaggy met Scooby- and could have done with a whole movie where the kids SLOWLY form bonds and build up to the start of a life long friendship while earning their stripes on a first unofficial mission. The second thing being Dick Dastardly, the money grubber he is, doing all of this for one purpose- he wants Muttley back. That's it. He just wants his best friend back. Could have done so much if they just kept to the idea of 'what Shaggy/Dastardly would do to save his best friend'. Could have been a lot more touching, had a lot more heart- a kingdom for a horse. The horse of cashgrabbing. The horse of bandwaggon jumping.

Just like with the DCEU and The Dark Universe, Scoob ended up as another failed and cynical attempt by movie execs to cash in on the success of the MCU and Monsterverse by completely blowing it on their first/second movie, shoving in as many characters as possible without letting either one to develop in a desperate attempt to create a shared universe, ignoring the lessons, planning and patience of its more successful contemporaries. Don't get me wrong. I would have loved for a Hanna-Barbara Cinematic Universe but this was a horrible way to go about it

Captain Caveman speaks perfect English, Dynomutt is no longer a doofus, and Blue Falcon is actually the son of the original character and has a modernized suit. If they hadn't said Dick Dastardly's name on screen, I wouldn't have recognized him. He doesn't have his hat and it looks like he did a lot of upper-body workout since we last saw him. As for Scooby himself, he still can't pronounce the first letter of someone else's name, but he pronounces every other word normally. It makes no sense. Also, you shouldn't introduce old characters into a new continuity by showing images of them during the end credits. At least if you're planning on giving them their own movie. By the way, why did you keep showing clips from the Nostalgia Critic?

What I noticed about these Cinematic Universes is that they never try to set up separate characters beforehand. 'Scoob!' should have set up only the mystery gang but they TRIED SO MUCH TO INCLUDE SO MANY CHARACTERS. It relies on character traits which they never set up in the first place but rather if you watched the source material. You can watch Iron Man and not have to read the source material. It tells you everything you need to know about Tony Stark.

The Mummy 2017 is bad. I heard that Tom Cruise was originally going to be the protagonist of the ORIGINAL Mummy but was replaced with Brandon Fraiser. The original one was way better but the 2017 remake COULD'VE DONE BETTER if it stick to the horror aspects and not the action pack. I'm glad the Dark Universe got revamped with the success of The Invisible Man 2020.

There are two things that especially stick out to me: 1. The writers put a bunch of modern stuff and pop culture with characters are meant to be timeless 2. Why on Earth did Frank Welker not play Fred like he's done in almost every piece of Scooby Doo media? You already hired him to do Scooby for the movie, yet you hire someone completely different. Is it because Frank is playing Scooby and has a lot of lines? If that's the case, then it shouldn't be because Scooby doesn't normally talk a lot. I saw the trailers for this movie, and I was excited. I like the gang and Dick Dastardly, and it seemed interesting to put them together. But then the movie came out and was mediocre, which was a huge letdown.

The best representation of Velma is in Mystery Incorperated. She was a mix of modern and OG (luckily, more OG). She had the interest in science and the brains, while being unamused by Shaggy's antics. She plays off the gang by shaping the mystery, while characters like Fred do the leg work. ALSO, she has the most perfect one liners in all of history.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: The rising trend of cinematic universes feels so disingenuous to me. I get that there've been shared film universes before, but the amount of attempts we’ve seen in just the past few years is clearly only because the MCU became such a huge success. Now everyone wants a piece of the action, hoping they’ll be as successful just by tying together a bunch of movies. It’s such a corporate copy-cat bandwagon. I’m honestly happy that the Dark Universe was killed off before it even started, because that’s one less cinematic universe we have to deal with. Like, when you hear that a new Scooby-Doo movie's coming out in theaters, you’d think it’d be...y’know, a SCOOBY-DOO movie, not a big Hanna Barbera crossover. I’m sure a lot of young Scooby-Doo fans wouldn’t really know or care about characters like Captain Caveman or Dick Dastardly, they’d just wanna see the Mystery gang solve a grand-scale mystery on the big (or as it unfortunately turned out to be, small) screen.

The Dark Universe was actually a revival era of the Universal Classic Monsters. The difference between the "cinematic universe" and the "monster mashup" was that they have a different formula. "Cinematic Universe" in Marvel started with Iron Man and it took 2 decades to build up the storyline, developing the characters and their arc, world building, and so much more heart. I think DCEU started the competition in the first place and tried to follow the steps of MCU only to step on a different direction in a worst thing possible (at least Man Of Steel, Wonder Woman, SHAZAM, and Aquaman are the only contenders that saved the unofficial shared universe from dying). For the "monster mashup" aspect, the studio decided to find something unique, creative, and scarier in an awesome way. I think "Monsters Squads" is a perfect example of that. It pulled off the the "cinematic universe" way before MCU was even a thing. Dark Universe should make something like what Universal Classic Monsters can do instead of following the footsteps of MCU. Thank goodness, the Dark Universe was revamped thanks to the success of The Invisible Man (2020) but that wasn't enough.

_Be Cool Scooby Doo_ wasn't a bad cartoon but the design itself was something like a cutaway gag from Family Guy turned into a series. Still, it followed the formula with a twist, the episodes were decent, and the humor was sub-par at its best. I thought the series was bad because of how hideous the character design was but I have a little soft spot for it.

The exact reason why I will never see this movie. I was willing to give it a shot when it comes on TV or to streaming, but after hearing that Matthew and the other VAs from the cartoons weren’t even told they wouldn’t be voicing the characters, I decided not to even bother. That is not how you treat people that have been involved with these characters for years. If they’d told them, then I’d understand, but they couldn’t even give them the common curtesy to.

I've been rewatching a lot of Scooby Doo movies lately, and honestly I don't think Scooby and the gang opening the gates of hell and fighting Cerberus isn't as absurd for the series, considering that past movies have things like two genocide survivors praying to their cat god to become immortal furries, a musician who has magical ancestors and winds up being the only person who can return the ghost of an actual witch bent on world destruction to her prison, actual alien visitors who can disguise themselves as a person and a dog that Shaggy and Scooby fall in love with, and Tim Curry Not to mention the fact that both live action movies use the idea of "This time, the monsters aren't just guys in masks; they real!"
