+negaduck2000 The earthquake in question was a tremor caused by the sudden eruption of the crowd. It measured, I believe, a 2.1 on the Richter scale, according to the LSU on-campus geological seismograph. Thus, LSU and sports analysts have dubbed that game "The Earthquake Game".

I wish I could experience something like that! That place sure does get loud. The earthquake probably wasn't caused by sound but more likely from the fans jumping up and down.

Morgan Harris That’s exactly what it was.

Sound didn't play as big a role, but it was part of it. The crowd noise was LITERALLY deafening. Amongst family friends with their own stories at the game, my mom was in the student section (worst/best place for this experience). She said her ears were still ringing hours later at the afterparty. She didn't regain her hearing until the next morning. It wasn't just an instant crowd noise: the screaming lasted for almost a minute (you can tell by the length of this video that the fans never really quit screaming after the PAT).

I've been on large stadium's all my life for huge SEC games ..all over the conference...and I can tell you, never in my life have I been a part of a game atmosphere like that, all night, anywhere...we had it all night until that drive ..and the 4 down completion for the win, you cannot imagine, ..unless you were there....the ground shook, loudest craziest ever. Hats off to LSU, beat our ass ..we could have won a national championship that year...we never fully recovered.

I went to that game....I was there with a friend who was an Auburn graduate....he had four tickets, two other co-workers went with us. We drove from Mandeville, LA to Tiger Stadium....I did not hear about the "earthquake" until years later....been to many exciting games in that stadium over the years, there is nothing like Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night, unless you have experienced it....hard to explain 77Bronc BS Mechanical Engineering, 1982 LSU

Boo-frickedy-hoo!!! That was 27 years ago!!! Let me guess, you blame LSU for Auburn losing the national title against Florida State? You're such a stereotypical Auburn fan: you crybaby about any and everything, attributing all your failures to everyone else except your own shitty team who lost the game themselves. Try this: live in the now so you can watch Auburn get their asses whipped in Death Valley again this year!

@andrewschannel42592 ай бұрын
There wasn't an actual earthquake, but the crowd's reaction to this play triggered a seismograph in a nearby building. That's how this game became known as the earthquake game.
