Agreed! I was playing the alphafrog cube on mtgo earlier and got passed a black lotus, which is like fine, it was 2nd pick, neighbour probably opened time walk or sol ring or something, but from the same pack I also tabled Atraxa 😂 was very happy with both of those for my sneak attack deck

The Sail into the West is a weird rules interaction about "impossible choices". I don't know if this is the exact rule because the embarking would be your choice and not your oponent, but I am not a judge so there might be a better answer from a real judge. Here is the rule: 608.2d If an effect of a spell or ability offers any choices other than choices already made as part of casting the spell, activating the ability, or otherwise putting the spell or ability on the stack, the player announces these while applying the effect. The player can’t choose an option that’s illegal or impossible, with the exception that having a library with no cards in it doesn’t make drawing a card an impossible action (see rule 121.3). If an effect divides or distributes something, such as damage or counters, as a player chooses among any number of untargeted players and/or objects, the player chooses the amount and division each chosen player or object receives at least one of whatever is being divided. (Note that if an effect divides or distributes something, such as damage or counters, as a player chooses among some number of target objects and/or players, the amount and division were determined as the spell or ability was put onto the stack rather than at this time; see rule 601.2d.

Yeah, and I believe becaues Sail into the West was controlled by his opponent, he can't choose to draw cards. I believe if LSV Cast sail he could choose to discard.@@joaosallaberry

Not a bug. If an effect says draw 7 then LSV would draw 1 because he has to complete the effect to the best of his ability. if, however, an effect says he MAY draw 7 he can't actually choose to because he isn't allowed to complete the full effect of the choice. It's a weird MTG rule, not a MTGO bug.@@aronshimada7327

23:01 you were not given the option to draw either because of a bug or because you were yeilded. though i suspect it's because you were yeilded it auto selected no. same if you yeild with maze up, if someone attacks your given the option to select blockers but not maze

No, he was given the option to vote while being yielded. It seems like a bug to me. The reason you can’t use maze while you yield is because you can’t use it during the declare blockers phase, you have to use it before you go to blocks.

It was so funny when lsv was like “there’s no way I lose!” I was like well I mean he could roll a 6 double nug but what are the odds of that happening. I know he didn’t lose that way but my jaw hit the floor. Casual 1/256 (technically higher since sixes are rerolls but still the oppo hit exactsies)

Blightsteel isn't actually particularly good with Sneak. It does a little bit of damage, but if they can soak up 2 damage from it, then it does nothing else unless you draw it again. It's better with tinker, but it's pretty slow and there are a lot of ways to deal with it. Blightsteel has its moments, but it really just doesn't do anything particularly well.

To add to this, Talisman is amazing with academy and with tinker. Phyrexian portal is already a better tinker target, and at that point in the draft he was relatively low on cheap artifacts to use tinker ON. Redundancy in tinker targets is a lot less useful than redundancy in cards to sac.

I think he forgot he had sneak when he made the decision, as he often doesn’t take it for tinker alone since it rarely gets the job done. For sneak tho it’s much more reasonable as a quick kill, and with tinker I think he prob should have taken it and likely would have if he realized how good it was with sneak too.

Yeah, the hard thing about vintage cube is you need multiple win cons to be competitive. If you only have one win con and your opponent figures out what it is, you’re fucked. I think he’s trying to spread the focus so that he has multiple outs

Comet is fucking horrible. What a dumb card to print and add. The RNG is not fun at all. I love that magic is a game of luck but Comet is one that really ruins it for me.
