The first coup in January 1966,was not an Igbo coup but a Revolution headed by Major Kaduna Nzeogwu. He was a national hero, whose intention was to introduce a new social order that would purge the ills of the country and restored peace.I have written a new book titled The Nigerian civil War 1967to1970.I participated in the War and I stayed in the trench for 20 months fighting day and night.Iam ready to be interviewed by you any time.

The retired Lt Col talked about Ehor! That's where I grew up. I know every inch of where he described. My dad told me how Murtala Mohamed was camped there to supervise the battles there which were extremely gruesome. He was staying at the old Ministry of Works building, directly opposite our house. The primary school field was used as a cemetery for dead soldiers which were brought in large numbers every now and then. Dead soldiers would be taken to people's compound for burial and if a landlord refuses, he had to pay some money to the soldiers bearing the body, who will then take the body to another compound, as so on. God forbid any such war in the future.

PA Ajayi's recollection of certain major events before and during that war is mostly inexact or downright erroneous. For instance, Lt Col. Victor Banjo was not part of the coup; he was senior to Nzeogwu and co. He was arrested and detained because he was said to have gone to meet Ironsi in his office armed - two days after Ironsi became the Head of state. He had been appointed as the first Nigerian commander of the Engineering corps of the Nigerian army .(He was an electrical engineer). He was being detained in the East when the war broke out. He reached an agreement with Ojukwu upon his release from the prison, that he would be given troops to Match to the west to stir up armed insurrection in the west which was occupied by Norther soldiers. He and his Biafran troops arrived at Ore, when it happened that there was a breakdown in communication with his contact in the west. They were stuck at Ore waiting to re-establish contact when the Federal troops came against them.

As much of Akintola was the Northern puppet, Ironsi was also a puppet to the North, he was among the people on the list to be executed but Ademoyega who was tasked to kill him failed in his assignment. Banjo was part of the coup. After the coup failed Ironsi hijacked it. Ironsi was handed power by the civilian government to restore order. In his appointments he surrounded himself with Northern soldiers, only one spots were for the Yoruba and Igbos which were Eastern and Western premier positions. The rest of his appointments were Northerners, if indeed Ironsi was part of the coup give me one reason as a military officer he will be so foolish to surround himself with Northerners?

Col.Ajayi lied by calling that an Igbo coup. Even the 1966 coup that was plotted was to make a Westerner (Obafemi Awolowo) the head of state because of how good and the work he has done in the West.
