He was so well known by locals and the army men that he would travel without any escort and when stopped by a crowd- he would come out and instantly there used to be a comment -Arrey yeh to hamare commander sahib hain When he was posted out , there was not a single flower left in the Mughal gardens as the locals used flower petals to shower his motorcade!
