I think Lt. Gen(r) was not written as prefix of the name of Sahibzada Yaqoob Ali Khan. In an interview, I understand, Gen Yahya once mentioned that Sahibzada Sahib was dismissed on account of his refusal to use force against Bengalis brothers.

Remember he refused to yahyya for military action and asked for political solution. Bhutto' and yahyya were the main culprit of Dacca fall. We have not forgotten east Pakistan remember.

I had the opportunity in 1984 thru Lt. Gen. Yaquib ex ambassador of Mexico resided in Houston in Memorial a townhouse with his two son and wife. Gen.Haq from Pakistan supported his last days and died in Houston, Texas.

I read, first it was Admiral Ahsan a distinguished naval offocer also ex ADC to Qaid e Azam who was made Governor East Pakistan and then Gen Yaqoub, also officer in Qaid e Azam governors guard contingent. Both these officers refusef to use force on East Pakistanis, saying it would cause breakaway. These 2 were refined officers, educated, principled, wise and knew what pakistan ideology was all about but unrefined , basic, low level education background types like Yahya, Tikka and Niazi took the unwise route, rest is history. Now look what level of officers got promoted, Zia ul haq, Bajwa, asim munir, types, none should have gone beyond major then retired.

As i know, Shaibzada Yaqoob Ali Khan was Maj. Gen. retied and not Lt. Gen. Even if he was removed from Army he was not court martialed and might had been forced retired as a court martiled officer can not become a govt. officer like Ambassador.

Sahibzada Yaqoob Ali Khan was cousin brother of my Maternal Grandfather. My Grandfather ancestor Nawab Najib ud Dawlah was Nowab of Najibabad State. My Grandfather ljve in Rampure his whole life he pass away sicne 2001. Sahibzada Dildar Hussain Naseeri he was well Known Poet.

Those were the punjabi soldiers who served in the Birtish Army fought with the Osman turkish army, killed palestinian people, handover Al Qudus to Birtish and created Israel. I watched Sahibzada Yaqub accompanying Gen Zia in Afghan Refugee Camp Nasir Bagh. Very impressive personality. A foreign reporter tried his best to get an affirmative answer from him about Pakistani involvement in Afghan Jehad. He flatly denied. . . Diplomacy at its best
