I hold my Next Gen from LT in my hand and love it. Then I pick up my Genesis. Then my Gen 5. And, as I have no Gen 6, I just have to hold my Gen 3 in convexed O1 and try to be content.

This one I like, a lot. It's still a bushcraft knife, but it's long enough to serve as a primary belt knife as well.

I was on the edge to buy a gen6 but opted for a bark river kephart 5" instead . i choose cpm 4v over a2 and convex edge over scandi in blades over 5 inch . the bark river is more close to 5,5 inch in lenght actually . realy like the gen6 too .

Does being 6 inches push this knife into the “survival” category? Or is it too thin? Thoughts and/or opinions please.

I'd love to see more convex grinds on LT'S knives. I know he has a few you can get with convex grinds but there really isn't alot. Bark River kinda ruined me on that!

True. Convex grind is far better than flat. Even scandi should have convex edge.

PREPAREDMIND101 Chris, I purchased some Wilson "overgrip" (the non-cushioned kind) for one of my knives. It doesn't appear to be self-adhesive. What do you recommend to attach it to the knife? I don't think electrical tape would hold very well under most conditions and I don't want to use the tape that came with it with the Wilson logo. Did I even get the right kind?
@preparedmind101
@preparedmind101 6 жыл бұрын
There's a tapered end that should be adhesive. If not, cut a taper and then a TINY bit of loctite gel super glue
@dvolsky914
@dvolsky914 6 жыл бұрын
PREPAREDMIND101 Fantastic! Thanks. I noticed the tapered end but didn't peel back the plastic backing on that end to notice it was adhesive. The other end wasn't. I assumed it was the same.

Batoning is for Real Men who Enjoy a Tough Stout knife that can do Bushcraft/Camp /Survival stuff with ease .... opinions , opinions , opinions. .. Every Ones got one and Everyone is right for themselves....I think those 30 + year expert Bushcrafters just enjoy pushing there opinions... why not just Live and Let Live and stop with the world wide Negative of Live and Let Die.... again love the videos chris and keep Batoning that wood - ill do the same!!!

Believe it or not I use a Mora companion for small to medium size batoning. Something about that grind and ultra smooth blade just makes it coast through every wood I've ever used it on. Of course for larger applications I have a J. Neilson Custom Chopper I paid almost 2k for that annihilates anything in its path.

Ok, all these knife reviews are ok, but I cannot afford a 200-300 dollar knives, how about getting back to budget knives and other budget equipment that most people can afford. The most I have ever paid for a knife was 80 dollars, I also have a 10 dollar knife that will match most of the 200+ dollar knife. When are you going to do the SHED build?

I spent the first 45 years of my life never batoning. A few thousand trail miles and always carried my old lightweight Estwing hatchet in my pack. The knife was for feather sticks and making very small kindling that way. Then, suddenly the custom and production knife world began promoting larger knives and batoning became a bushcraft sport. It works, it's fun, who knew? So, for the last 15 years it's part of my campfire routine. That said Chris, I have to laugh at the number of videos in which you complain about all the anti-batoners out there. By the same token, I have to laugh at a lot of other KZbinrs out there who have to baton all knife-review knives including very small knives that are definitely not meant to be used that way. At least you keep it real with larger blades mostly.

Six Inch Blade, eh? Why do I have Salty Comments from Tac going through my mind? Anyway, looks like a great Knife, and as usual, someone is going to Bitch about the price. Along with Batoning. Oh well, Haters gotta Hate. But something just hit me. With the "WTF?" Weather we have in Ohio, those of us who live here have the Opportunity to do almost every kind of Training and Camping and Bushcraft and "Survivalism" in every Crappy Weather Condition you can think of. Because we HAVE to. Think about what Wingman, Junkyard Fox, Gabe in Hawaii, Bryan down in Georgia, live in. How would they handle a Year in Buckeyeland? Food for thought. Yeah Ohio.
