We visited Richards grave today, 23/12/23, after travelling to Celigny from Geneva. As a fan of Richard, it was something I have always wanted to do. It was worth the effort. Celigny is a small, typical Swiss village, in beautiful surroundings. I can understand why Richard chose to stay there. God bless you Richard, you were truly a great man and actor. 🙏🏻❤️

I once stood with my Mother, about 15 feet away from Richard & Elizabeth, who were having dinner at the Savoy Hotel in London, in the 70's. We didn't dare to approach them at the time. But we were heart broken later, when we found out they never turned their fans away. Truly a wasted moment. And never got the chance again. But he did smile and wink at me (I was only young). I did write to Elizabeth years later, and told her my story. And how one of my favourite movies of hers, was NATIONAL VELVET. That beautiful lady, sent me a magnificent signed photo of herself, and also included a special photograph inside the envelope, of her in National Velvet. What an amazing actress. And a special soul. Thank you Elizabeth. Richard was one of the finest actors we have ever had the pleasure of watching. That magnificent voice will never be emulated. No amount of Oscars could have told us any more than we already knew. He was the best. It is such a shame their wish to be buried together back in Wales, never became a reality. Because their souls truly belonged together, underneath all the angst. Rest in Eternal Peace Richard. I hope you have found each other once again 🙏💔 Xx

My nature is of naturally mystical intention that's developed throughout my life, and watching your video left me wondering where and how, Richard Burton might be now. We do not merely stagnate in spirit,, after our bodies have been layed to rest in the ground, but a lot of what was sad in our lives, may well be put to rest there, be left behind as the dust of life, while we are set free in spirit and can move on towards a better future. 🙏🏻💖

@@LTJones Since we share a mutual admiration of Burton, I am taking the liberty to send you a threnody I wrote on the tragedy of his death which deeply affected me. ELEGY ON THE DEATH OF RICHARD BURTON Burton is dead! The words like hammer-blows Re-echo in the caverns of my mind, still racked with disbelief. Burton is dead and through the mists of Wales The gallant knights and princes of the past, O'er moor and meadowland in bright array Troop forth in ghostly majesty to bear A final tribute to their noble son Who sleeps eternally in foreign soil. Burton is dead! The graves of poets tremble at the news And voices of new bards are strangely still To hear the replication of the chords Which rose to thrill the English-speaking world. Burton is dead and 'though the mind must grieve, His torment now has ended. He has joined With Burbage, Garrick, Irving and the rest The quintessential HAMLET of our age. J. Reilly August, 1984 That was my poetic tribute to the greatest actor of the 20th century. Hope you enjoyed it. Although I have never been to Switzerland, I have been to Wales. In 1988, I visited Laugharne and paid my respects at the grave of Dylan Thomas, drank a few pints at Brown's and toured the Boat House. A wonderful experience. On the same trip, I went to Pontrhydyfen and tramped through the rain past the house where Burton was born and the Miners' Arms which was unfortunately closed. All was not lost however as I did find another pub where I raised a few glasses to Burton's memory.

You are right. He was cheated of an Oscar several times but I always believed the Hollywood elites were jealous of him. They probably reasoned that, since he had Liz, what else did he need? It also irked me that he was never knighted by the Queen. He was infinitely more worthy than some of the twits and drug addicts I could name who did receive the honour.

@@jacksonreilly3441 I agree with you 💯%. Hollywood is very judgmental when it comes to presenting the wholesome American package. True, Burton and Taylor did misbehave terribly with Eddie Fisher. They carried on in front of him and in public. Had Burton been an American, it would not have mattered so much, but they blamed a British man, for tarnishing and corrupting the squeaky clean image of their wholesome, all American child star, Taylor.
