A bit of an odd one - the suffix was F box which should be the short gear (tin-plate cover) but it needed the longer suffix G gear (300Tdi onwards) aluminium cover

Yeah, as far as that sealer goes a little is good more is not better. Have you ever tried the orange thread lock? It’s supposed to hold like red but be removable like blue.

You’re having the same week as me Mike. Everything went wrong so said bugger it I’m having a break and a cuppa. Unfortunately the new Russell Hobbs electric kettle dumped all its water over the counter through the bottom. I gave up then and took to alcohol. Cheers

Yeap and even worse here when you have a box stripped, and it is a week + to get parts!

These parts modifications are a real headache! At least you had a good usable gear to get back on line. The bush and bearings go into the case much easier if you warm up the casing, (and freeze the bush), but I an sure you know that. Chris B.

Mike I find the gasket sets handy for x2 things. X1 when fitting an atb to a good box you can shim preload with gaskets without removing bearings etc.. x2 when you are doing a sump plate on vehicle and can’t leave silicone to dry for 24hs just use a gasket and aircraft gasket goo.

Mike I’ve always wondered why you have the metal bench top rather than a wood one. Moving parts around on it sounds gritty (I’m sure it is and is just the sound).
