LT500R Quadzilla VS. Banshees

Going up against a couple of banshees on my 1989 LT500R QuadRacer (Quadzilla) at the Delta PA Mason Dixon Dirt Drags!
Mods:
LT500R: Full FMF Gold Series Exhaust.
White/Blue Banshee: FMF Exhaust.
2006 Special Edition Banshee: Full Toomey T5 Exhaust

At this track the red light sensor is about 2 feet in front of where you stage your front tire so you must leave before the green light comes on in order to get a good start.

Banshees are like Jeeps, great after you dump 3 times what they cost in upgrades. I'm perfectly content with my stock 500. Like comparing a Civic to Mustang.

ive owned 2 500 bought a new one in 1987 and 1988 i put a 15 sprocket on front and a 40 on back still had plenty power on bottom and get 90 on top end

@@DoubleD.Racing great video I guess expect the last shifting method of holding the throttle wide open and hopping it shifs. Those dog boxes are designed to be shifted clutches by rolling off the throttle grabbing gear and hammering back down. Kinda odd the leave out the actual shifting method for the trans type. Any other method besides ease of throttle pull clutch shift and continue is going to damage something in the long run. So I watched your video and still not really seeing why you would not shift the trans the appropriate way

Never mind I see the combined times at the end, I thought you where Grany shifting it racing, you are quick shifting hard to see the thumb move or not In the races. Nothing wrong with quick shift just hard on the clutch, the “ normal shifting” not so normal on a dog box I really don’t understand why people do this on a quad or dirt bike it’s not necessary. Stock to stock a 500 beats a banshee. If you gave each $2000 for mods a banshee will murder a 500 embarrassingly bad.

@@leemyre23 guys i grew up riding these quads ive been on dirt and asphalt with both my friends have had them and so have i ! A quadzilla P4P is one of the weakest quads made ! On paper a 500cc 2stroke should smoke the 350 but it doesnt !! My brother had a yz 85 and my friend a cr125 and the YZ would win everytime they raced top speed and low end ! Im speaking from experience not someone who watches videos ! I had a 660 raptor and i used to smoke the quadzillas and the bashees where neck and neck with my quad but top end i was faster the quadzilla tho wasnt even close !

The only time a 500 beats a banshee is in stock form. If you equally modded both, a banshee will murder a 500. No 500 has ever seen 100hp, properly built and tuned 421 cheetah on 110 can see it all day.

The stock Quadzilla is a slug compared to what it could be even without boring it out like you have to with a Banshee. From pipe and port tuning to compression and intake, the motor could be far stronger. A Banshee makes what, 35HP stock? You really think a built and bored out quadzilla couldn't break 100hp? Just a high compression head and rejetting for methanol gets you around 70hp without even touching the porting or having to buy an aftermarket pipe. That's maybe $250 and an hour of your time in the garage with basic tools. Tell me you can make 70HP with a Banshee that cheaply and easily.
