Jeffrey Osborne was originally the drummer for LTD. The actual lead singer didn't want to sing this particular song, so they asked Jeffrey Osborne if he wanted to try it. He said yes, sung the hell out of it, and the rest of history!

Jeffrey Osborne was the lead singer of this group, then he had a nice solo career. This song was remade by George Benson, and was also popular. I like the jazzy things he added to the song.

Every black woman of a certain age knows this song and "You Are My Starship" by Michael Henderson. Give the Henderson a listen. The great voice of Jeffrey Osborne. Listen to him doing "On The Wings Of Love", "(Only) Human", "The Woo Woo Song", and "Back In Love Again".

Jeffrey Osborne is only a handful of singers who started their career as drummers. Others include Teddy Pendergrass, Stokely from Mint Condition, Phil Collins and Larry Blackmon from Cameo. Even Karen Carpenter from the Carpenters was a fantastic drummer!

Re-watch 🎶WeRTheWorld🎶 vid. Osborne's in 1st 7 shown - and now know to put the proper respect on this bro's name. Icon in 2 music genres - on that GeorgeBenson-level. In 2024? These all-time soul songs make me cry bc I thank God for such a treasure to humanity. 🔥

Here is what I think about you😍Great selection. All I can say is I am 60 and it all about basement blacklight parties and this was your first slow dance most likely if you are my age.
This song always makes me mourn the (death) of a maternal figure who played a major/minor part of my life. This was the song I remember my biological mother ALWAYS played when I was a child and before I went into the foster care system(age 6) and then eventually adopted by another family(non bio). Its melancholy because he sings about his great LOVE all the while reminding me of being abandoned by a great love(bio mother) I apologize for the sad comment because the song in general is a masterpiece

Jeffrey is also in USA for Africa. No SOLO - but you know he could have been one! CERTAINLY he was on standby if Al Jarreau or James Ingram didn't deliver. THEY DID! LOL!
