I guess the yard manager said: "Screw it! We're short on power. Are those units good to go? Throw 'em up on the local!"

Definitely not a local

Yep and a slow one because if a locomotive doesn’t have ditchlights it is limited to 25mph

@@ironhorsemedia2881 its strange, no long hood ditchlights............FRA rules..........

That lash-up is practically a line of brand spanking new units that have been put right into service without separating them from one another the way it appears. That paint is FRESH! By the way, I couldn't help but to notice the South Shore coil cars on the tail end. I be a big South Shore fan.

Brand new locos!

It's interesting that there was no place available to wye one of the locos so they wouldn't need to run long hood forward in a cab designed for the engineer to look forward.

Man, this is eeriely similar to what happened when the SD50 launched. The SD40-2 was the far superior model, and was STILL in production long after the debacle of the ill-fated "successor" ended production after just 5 short years. As much as I like the Tier 4 SD70ACe, the Tier 2/3 model will always be the preferred version in my opinion! What I find odd, is how EMD didn't even give the so-called "Tier 4" model a new name designation. SD89ACe or SD89ACe-T4 sounds more appropriate.
@Cnw87015 жыл бұрын
Kind of wish the SD70ACe-T4 had more commercial success with other railroads. Unfortunately, they're expensive, and supposedly "bad on fuel consumption", which is sad, considering how the Tier 4 model is supposed to be more energy-efficient and cut down on emissions! We seriously need to shift away from fossil fuels and start using more renewable energy that doesn't pollute the air as badly as diesel fuel does, then we wouldn't have to worry about stupid emission regulations!

These aren't tier 4 credits are they? Whatever they are, they look great running long hood first!
@amtrak7064 жыл бұрын
Randall Slaughter He meant tier 4 credit units, which are tier 3 locomotives made after the tier 4 cutoff date as an allowance for building a certain number of tier 4 compliant locomotives. And yes, these are tier 4 credit units.
