@TheSkatingreptile5 жыл бұрын
@@WeightliftingHouse Hope you can get footage of the both of them!! Andreev's technique at lighter weights is interesting too. He still jerks with a full grip until around 100kg. Then he switches to a fingertip jerk. The hands-out regrip really becomes noticeable past 150kg. Real interesting story behind him too. To summarize, he was left homeless after graduating from his Sports School in 2016. He'd been considering leaving Bulgaria to compete for Azerbaijan who offered him $250,000. Staven Sports Academy's president offered him housing since they didn't want to lose yet another Bulgarian to a different country. After Bulgaria's performance in Anaheim and some politics had been resolved, Bozhidar and his coach, Plamen Bratoychev, were put on the national team. His first competition back, he beats Yarkin at u23s (like he did at the 2014 Youth Olympics) and takes gold. Then he competes at 2018 Worlds and makes the top 10. Spends the next few months competing for KSV Durlach at the Bundesliga. At Batumi, he is crowned European Champion and now, Bronze in Pattaya! Plus European u23 records in two weight classes. Crazy to think how different things would be if he never got that apartment. Belarus's weightlifting page on IG has nice footage of Tsikhantsou rack jerking 230 and Vadzim Likharad doing the same with 195.

Bulgarians and Soviets are known in that era for heavy doping. Drug tests back then weren't as aggressive as they are now In the 80s there was either no testing or weak T:E ratio tests. It was easy to pass tests in the 80s. We've made such absurd advances in testing thanks to isotope tests. Now you'd have to be off drugs for months and months to piss clean. So when they step on the plat they're clean. However, corruption and interference by states means that they aren't tested year round. If every country had biological passports and year round testing like some countries, we'd be pretty confident that modern lifters are clean.
