All your videos are so informative. And the honesty of you not to blame everything on Luba. And vice versa, if you think that Luba is making a mistake, you should also report it. This video proves that the rtk setup must be solid. Keep it up Postman!

In my experience the RTK is very solid, only times I have issues would be the GPS reception on Luba side under a tree but it does pretty good and will continue on after a short pause

I've just watched all of the Luba videos back to back which has been very informative. You have more patience than most! If you are happy with it I think that most people will be. My lawn is much smaller (400m2) and the smallest Luba would be ideal but for the cost. I'm still on the fence but journals such as yous make the decision process much clearer. Keep up the good work!

I'm not disappointed I think Luba does a very good job! I Make a lot of videos about things going wrong but It's actually pretty rare usually it goes out on its schedule Mows and comes home no problems every time. Yeah Luba would have your yard cut in no time! I like this GPS based navigation so much better than the random navigation I've been using for years. Thanks for watching all the videos that really helps my channel!

This is an important finding and one many users I suspect will encounter in time - especially at the start of the next season when erecting the rtk after winter. It's good to know that Luba's rtk is especially sensitive to rotation, and that rotation will change the orientation of the maps, with small degrees of rotation turning into errors of several metres at the furthest reaches from the rtk. My own fear is that at some point the app could stop working/unsupported and that to use the mower one has to make do with the maps in memory. One will therefore need a very rigid setup with slots and keyed poles to ensure repeatability of setup between mowing seasons.
@Crazypostman

Yes this is a fear of mine as well! This product is dependent on this app and maybe even the Mammotion servers working just to operate! I would highly suggest that they release a basic operating version of this app on GitHub. That way if something traumatic happens to the company everybody that has a luba will not be SOL

Instead of duct tape you should have used cajun Flex-Seal LOL. Hacksaw a few slots in the larger pipe and then put a u-bolt around it, or even more simple, a couple of self-tapping screws through the side into both pipes. I'd hate to see that happen again especially since you're in tornado alley!

I appreciate your honesty about blaming yourself lf for the rtk issue, it's great for others to know why/how the rtk needs to be so stable.
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
Yep... it's important for everybody to know exactly how sensitive it is! I had it attached pretty solid but It was 80 mph winds, I think during the big gusts it literally just bent the pole over or maybe it was just kind of bouncing around?

You should have brought it to mow near the pond again, just to make sure you did put the RTK in the exact same position it was before.

Crazy, thanks for this info. Did you update to see if Luba returns home via a straight line or still comes home via the border? BTW, did you get your Ioniq turned off?
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
Yes I got Luba going straight home now! Now we just need Luba to clean up around no-go zones. Yeah got it off! I had my foot on the brake! evidently it won't turn off if your foot is on the brake but only when your charging, if your unplugged it will turn off. weird glitch.

Super valuable info! I am seeing some owners placing the RTK unit in their attic (!), which has the advantages of eliminating exposure to the elements, particulary wind and rain. Apparently an attic placement does not significantly lessen satilite reception (?). Have you tried placing the RTK in the attic? I am going to try an attic RTK placement and will let you know the results.
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman 2 ай бұрын
@@stevesls007 I strongly recommend NOT putting your RTK unit in the attic. It Certainly does reduce satellite reception. The signal impact does not show up well in the app, Because the app only shows satellites that it can receive, it doesn't show signal quality. You may only lose 5-10 satellites by putting it into the attic, but every single satellite it is still receiving the signal quality will be much poorer.

Good info to know. It would be interesting if someone did an experiment whereas they show the mower mowing in a series of lines, then adjust the RTK station an inch on the pole and highlight the results. So like 1" movement of the RTK results in 1 meter change? Who knows :)
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
That would be a neat experiment for somebody else 🤣 I have far too much mapped to risk having to do it all over. But somebody else that has a nice small square yard If they want to try it I'll post a link here!

@@Crazypostman lol oh I know you do, and since it's not your residence and it's a haul to get there that precludes you from tinkering too much. Some of these euro yards people are using luba for I could cut in two minutes with a push mower. That person would be a great candidate to show the importance of rtk stability on the pole. On another note I see that Husqvarna is selling their rtk station for 900 USD, and soon they will allow for the use of multiple rtk stations. Of course you have to buy the 5000 USD mower to use said rtk stations.
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
@@Scott-dn1bk I don't understand why they're pricing it so high! Why not regularly priced mower and then you pay the extra $900 to make it wireless... Husqvarna pricing is crazy

Husqvarna supposedly invented the tech that everyone else uses. Or they patented the way the tech is used. I highly doubt the over seas brands invented the same thing that looks the same if you catch what I'm saying. That tech costs a lot for research. Plus Husqvarna has a large international footprint of dealers and service locations. Not to mention many employees and legal folks, insurance costs and regulatory requirements that the other brands say they adhere to but we know now that not to be true.

Abnormal end or "abend" is an old programming term which is almost the equivalent of the blue screen of death. It sounds to me like the software on the mower itself crashed... May want to try to submit a bug report...

Yeah it set out there till the battery died that night so there's probably no logs. it was acting very strange and took a few reboots to get it to revive. It was completely and thoroughly confused for a few hours this morning 🤣 but as far as I can tell it has recovered and it's behaving normally now that it found its base station again and I ever so slightly turn the RTK to the west a few degrees I'm thinking all is good. It just shows you how important that reference station is to the math few degrees off and it had a stroke!

I’m kinda curious as to why your rtk unit can rotate at all. Mine is on a very rigid pole that is on the top side of my house. If I tried to rotate the rtk module it wouldn’t move and if I really tried it would snap off. Didn’t your Luba come with a permanent mounting pole and bracket for mounting it to your house? I’ve never tried moving my rtk unit for my husqvarna to see what affect it would have.
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
Mine did not come with remote mounting hardware. I only got the pole that you stick on the charging station. They include house mounting hardware now? I didn't know that. Yes it's extremely important that the RTK does not move not even one degree. For being kind of a shoddy install mine was very solid I'm surprised the wind was able to move it but it was 80 MPH guest so that's pretty strong.

Great information. I have a small pond too. My next concern is fruit, pine cones and sticks on the blades. And does that lithium battery ever go bad or need to be replaced? What's the cost of that?
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about the battery assuming they used quality cells I've had another robot mower for over 5 years It's still going strong. Pine cones are definitely going to be a problem and of course sticks could cause issues too. I'm sure OEM replacement is expensive but if your past your warranty date just swap it yourself. a battery is a battery When you're building your pack just make sure your series/parallel numbers add up to the voltage luba wants

Build a cowcatcher for the front of Luba to push the cones off to the side. It would mess up the bumper sensor tho. If you hadn't heard of a cowcatcher then goggle it. They put them on the front of the old locomotives.
