Thank you! I wanted to let you know that these videos on "the basics" are very helpful.

Nice work doc. For very inexpensive fountain pens, I use normal castrol motor grease, but as you rightly said, silicon grease is best as it never spoils anything in the pen.

Thanks for the tip re: the Pelikan and the Omas! I'll remember that if I ever buy a piston-filler I cannot disassemble.

Excellent video. Thanks for the tips. I was wondering whether I could do that with my Pelikan M200.

Just on the inside of the pen barrel ink chamber, after unscrewing the nib and feed and collar assembly.

Love your videos, man. I just ordered my first fountain pen to have with me in school (I'm 16), a Lamy Safari Charcoal black. Just wanted to say that, also lower the volume of your intro, but I guess you hear that a lot ;) Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the great video. I assume that what you did with the OMAS is safe to do with the MB 149 and 146 right? For now they're al right but in future I'll probably need to grease them up a bit. Btw, maintaining a TWSBI or any pen you can tear apart, is much more fun :)

Hello! I'm completely new to the world of fountain pens, and I was looking into buying an extra fine TWSBI eco. I will be using this pen for taking notes in many, if not all of my classes. I was wondering when is it appropriate to lubricate your piston pen, and what problems does this solve? What should I look out for in piston pens? As well, should I instead buy Noodler's black eel ink versus a more waterproof and fast drying ink?

You lubricate a piston to make it run more smoothly.

hello for pens that cannot be opened on both ends. can i suck some oil from the nib to make it smoother?
@sbrebrown Жыл бұрын
I would not recommend that, because oil residue in the feed will hamper/stop ink flow!

Doesn't grease then mix with ink since it gets on the sides?
@sbrebrown6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about that, This has never been an issue for me

sbrebrown - You’re right, it is too complicated to explain. Luckily your pen reviews are easier to understand 👍
