Lubricating The Walking Belt

Great tips. Hard to QC if evenly lubed considering the lube is on inside of belt.

It can be difficult, particularly on models where the belt sits under the deck rails. If the deck stores in the space saver position It may be easier to check the lubrication on the underside of the belt.

Can someone please explain to me how you get to the edges of the walking belt to lift it up. I have a brand new 2450 machine and the side steps cover the belt on both sides.

I like to try to pinch up the belt with the pam of my hands so that the edge pulls away from under the deck rail. you can see what I mean at the 1:10 second mark of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIqvkoN9mtOYpK8

What type of lubricant can you use?

Check your specific users manual for your product. You should use Icon (iFIT) Performant treadmill lubricant on iFIT treadmills. No other lubrication is recommended. (I'm sure there is other lubricants that work but I have not been advised if anything else has been tested. I do know that there are lubricants/substances that will not work for the treadmill even though they are marketed for similar purposes, so to keep it simple I only would use the manufacturers lubricant)

The manufacturer recommends Icon/iFIT performant lube. it is the only lubricant tested for these products. it should be available at www.iconservice.com or your local distributor of NordicTrack products if outside of the US.

How do i know if my belt is too tight?

Symptoms of a belt that is too tight include Increased amp draw. If the motor sounds particularly strained or if the Red LED on the controller starts blinking more slowly when weight is applied to the belt then something is causing the belt to work harder than usual. If the belt and deck (and other parts) are in good condition and the belt is properly lubricated then likely the belts are too tight. I recommend loosing the belt till the point where is begins slipping then just tightening the belt from there just enough that is no longer slips. the best tension is as loos as it can be w/out slipping.
