Having gone to many events like this, I can say that they're very cool, but around here we don't usually get much of a turnout. I was fortunate enough to see a rare and unusual truck in one of these hot rod semi truck pulls. It was a 1965 Diamont T cabover, and it was one of the coolest things I've ever witnessed (It was also the only truck to get a full pull that night)

how are the pull measurements worked out is it from the front of the truck or the sledge? also what is the weight of the slede? any chance you could do a video of how this worked out with the rules for the truck set ups etc ? keep up the good work dude
@EEPPULLINGVIDEOS4 жыл бұрын
Distance is measured at the buckboard or front of the sled pan. As for weight it varys from class to class and track conditions.
@Alex-uy7pc4 жыл бұрын
@@EEPPULLINGVIDEOS do they move the box based on time distance or speed?
@oe5424 жыл бұрын
Alex the speed at which the box is moved forward is gear driven and is controlled by the sled operator. The sled operator chooses which gear based upon which class is running. The gear selected stays the same for each competitor in the class. The distance it moves is related to the distance the sled is pulled by the puller. In other words the further you go down the track the further the box moves.

What do they mean by “Floating Finish”?
@EEPPULLINGVIDEOS4 жыл бұрын
Pull it as far,as you can the 1st time. 300'-320' is considered a "full pull" which if more than 1 went that distance then they would come back at end of class and have a pulloff. Floating finish prevents that and you go all out as far as you can the 1st time

iv'e seen plenty of trucks running E9's do extremely well, plenty with 6v71, 8v92, and 12v71 detroits, and a few pulling tractors running built 3208's. lots goes into a good build, but to me it looked like Tim carter had never pulled before in his life. Terrible launch building no boost and not riding the clutch at all. The second Mack which was (also Tim carter?) had some kind of drive-train issue. Engine was racked out but the tires just weren't spinning. Before you go on the internet trying to start a brand battle least you can do is make an effort to sound educated.
@chrismchenry98914 жыл бұрын
@@liamfogle8367 All three of those Detroit have done fine but they are all two stroke motors and cant get the compression like the six cylinders trust me I know plenty about diesels and some of those guys get too much fuel or water and start snuffing out the fire in the cylinder and a diesel fires on compression and the super chargers in those two strokes can only push the air in so fast vs a turbocharger pushing it in threw the valves in the head where the supercharger pushes it in threw the holes in the cylinder walls and the in line six cylinder has more than proved it self for decades that is why the series 60 Detroit is a in line six engine look it up
@dragonheart53164 жыл бұрын
@@chrismchenry9891 Detroits ran supers that barely had any boost to 'em. They increased the atmospheric pressure that allowed the cylinder ports to take the fuel air charge. Detroit also sold some of their engines with turbo's. But, anyone that knows engines, 2 strokes make more power, 4 strokes make more torque. Don't forget, those two strokers came in both a V and Inline up to six cylinders.
@chrismchenry98914 жыл бұрын
@@dragonheart5316 The Detroit had to have the superchargers because they could not develop there own compression like a cat and a cummins can and the turbocharger was there to force more air in threw the holes in the liners and the valves on top were just exhaust valves and they still had injectors to spray fuel in on the compression stroke and that's true that a 2 stroke every stroke was a powerstroke but with a cat engine had the higher compression that is how its gets its low end torque to pull and with the longer stroke on the pistons and that higher compression is why it will out pull a 2 stroke as long as it is set up right to get the right air fuel mixture because it takes twice as much air to burn a gallon of diesel fuel vs a gallon of gas so as long as you keep this air fuel ratio in mind and the cat engine will out pull a 2 stroke with easy

It's actually negligible in the scheme of things an international flight spews out more co2 and the soot is only harmful to humans who breath it in lol, it breaks down in the environment pretty readily. Burning a candle in your house regularly exposes you to more particulate pollution than you'd get from standing there. The only pollution of real concern is nox but even that would be relatively negligible, small towns tend not to have issues with smog and it does break down. It's only in big citiies where it's a real issue.
