Lucas is such a class act. Any hack with an opinion can soapbox about it, but he does a great job of presenting foods and cultures with respect and nuance without bashing folks over the head with a particular viewpoint, while still being honest and thought-provoking. It's a great way to encourage people to be curious and explore the world, and hopefully become wiser in the process.

Lately, more than 1300 people died because of a cholera outbreak in Yemen. And for a while that country has been going through a vicious war that stopped all signs of a 'normal life'. So thank you for shedding light on that country, as much as possible without getting out of the theme of the program.

Isn't Fatah means 'opener' or 'victory'? (Any Arabic speakers please correct me if I'm wrong) Either way, it is a very apt way to begin your meal haha
@AbdulkaderBabader7 жыл бұрын
Sam_Horn that would be in Arabic with letter ح this one is ending with letter هـ this makes them two different words. The one in video is from the word that means to cut into small pieces (chopped as mentioned in the video)
@SamIhsan067 жыл бұрын
Soft vs hard 'ha', got it. Thank you very much :D
@AbdulkaderBabader7 жыл бұрын
Sam_Horn LOL I never thought about it like that. But that exactly what we are calling B vs P. soft Vs hard B as we only recognize B in Arabic. That was a mind opening discussion. Thanks to you
@SamIhsan067 жыл бұрын
That is how usually it is taught here in Malaysia. Of course most of us only learn how to read Arabic for Quran reciting etc. Only those who further their studies to the Middle East learn how to speak Arabic.
