Hi! Optometrist here: an MRI would likely be checking for optic nerve compression (ie. seeing if the hemangioma is pressing on the optic nerve which can cause damage and therefore amblyopia/lazy eye as they grow). Eye doctors do check intraocular pressure which is more to do with inside the eye and could indicate glaucoma for example if eye pressure is elevated. Anyways I hope that helps. Still worth asking the ophthalmologist! Love the videos!

Love to you all! I agree MRIs are costly and scary for such a little guy, but if it's in his best interest then by all means do it. You definitely don't want any issues to arise that may be caught by getting the MRI. You guys are always in my prayers ❤ Love from Delphos Ohio

The eye pressure checked at the eye doctor is an intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye), looks for things like uveitis or glaucoma. The pressure that would be placed by a hemangioma will be external pressure, that may eventually show symptoms on an ocular exam but may take a while to be seen on an ocular exam. I am sure the dermatologist just wants to be sure the hemangioma has resolved behind his eye before stopping the propranolol. A small hemangioma won't necessarily be putting pressure on the eye, but if the medication stops and it grows again, then you can get pressure to the eye. Definitely a call to the ophthalmologist will hopefully help clear things up on what they think, but hopefully this explains the difference between intraocular (inside the eye) pressure and periocular (outside/around the eye) pressure.

Happy Day Spomer family. Lucas will be ok. I have faith and trust in our Lord for a complete 100% on Lucas being ok. The girls are getting so big. Love to y'all from Texas. ❤❤❤❤❤

Hoping all goes well for Lucas. I know it would be best for him to not have to go thru another MRI, but I could understand where they'd want to look at some things that may not be able to be seen during regular eye exams.

I love Lucas's Paige faces. Austin and jess my son was diagnosed with crohns disease when he was 12. He had so many tests done and scopes and MRIs and I felt so frustrated and my breaking point was when he was 15 we were going to an infusion for the medicine that keeps him healthy and out of the hospital he broke down and asked in tears why does everything bad always happen to him? I didn't know what to say so I cried with him. He's 25 now and doing amazing and gets his infusions at home. I love you guys and think happy thoughts. 💜💜💜

Crohns is such a difficult battle to deal with, and at a young age I can’t even imagine. My Mom, and my Uncle and cousin on her side all have it. Plus she deals with diverticulitis as well. It can be scary at times, my heart goes out to you both.

Definitely follow through with the MRI. An Opthalmologist can only check the inerocular pressure, and to do that you have to be able to receive numbing drops, and keep your eye open. Lucas is too you young to be able to do that. The MRI is being done to check for pressure on the optic nerve, behind the eye.

Not to worry Jess & Austin... a precautionary MRI is better to monitor all Lucas's issues & probably will need to be done periodically throughout his precious life .. Thank GOD He is doing so well... GBY ALL 🙏❤️💙💖💖💙🐕🤗✝️

My 3 child, a boy also is 15 months. Born August 10 2023 and he isn't walking yet either. He's my latest to walk and took him for his 15 month checkup today and they said it can be normal especially since he is so clingy to me being home and his siblings who are 4 and 3 hold him and carry him around. I'm sure Lucas is fine 😊😊 love you guys!

I’ve had a headache all day so I’m a bit fuzzy but wouldn’t that make your little one not quite 12 months yet if his birthday is August 10?

Please read the comment from optometrist in here she explains the difference in pressure that they’re talking about. I definitely highly highly recommend the MRI. I know it’s a lot to deal with, but it’s better to do it and get final results and 100% cleared because it’s a totally different pressure that they’re looking at that they cannot check at an ophthalmologist

My daughter was afraid to walk without holding on to a hand. Started holding onto a shoe string giving her the other end. Slowly let it out then dropped it. She kept walking with the string until she realized I wasn’t holding it. She stood there for a minute looking at the string then dropped it kept walking…

@@AustinAndJessI had to rewatch also. I think the problem they are referring to were your comments about cognitive decline which they felt were a slur on President Biden. People need to learn not to be so easily offended.

The cognitive decline comment wasn’t politically related. They were making fun of themselves. They are both so sweet and wouldn’t intentionally put something out that could even be interpreted as an insult.
