How To Take Transmission Fluid Out of Car: • How To Pump Transmissi...
My Lincoln Town Car was not shifting right, it's really rough and slips going uphills. I tried a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix, found out myself this worked surprisingly well. Best bang for the buck.
You can find Lucas Transmission Fix at Amazon (affiliate): amzn.to/2s0bGcm
Will it work in everybody's case? I don't know, but this product worked for me. This 24 fl. oz. bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix stops leaks and hard shifting, controls overheating, renews worn fluid. Stops slip. Cleans and lubricates sticking valves for proper shifting. Polymeric film renews worn bands to stop slipping. Controls overheating renews worn fluid. Completely stops most seal leaks. Lucas Transmission Fix will be ineffective if the transmission has broken internal parts or the bands are completely burned out. Renews worn transmission fluid. Add to existing transmission fluid with engine warm and idling or with fluid change. A second bottle may be necessary in larger or badly worn transmissions. Smaller transmissions (compact or sub-compact vehicles) use 12 oz.
Results are usually immediate.
*This is basically my review of the product. I am not affiliated with Lucas. I just wanted to share that it worked for me.

I have a 4l80e that I had rebuilt. It started slipping after 2000 miles. Took it to the mechanic and he wants to charge labor and shop supplies on a warranty job. I said fuk that. Went to the store and bought this. It takes 250-500 miles for this to kick in. Once it kicks in, it’s super smooth, I didn’t even pull any transmission fluid out just let this go in. I was fed up with the whole thing. It’s been about 1000 miles and so far no problem

Despite what some people might think: Draining ALL of the trans fluid on an older trans that has NOT had normal changes (30-40,000 miles) can actually cause more problems with the high detergent ATF. Mistreated transmissions should only have a pan drain or less at first(not flush) and maybe filter change, then test drive....and then add Lucas if its still not operating great. Ive done this many times on beater cars and good ones...and I learned. DONT over fill it either. Extra can be sucked out the fill tube since tran pans usually dont have a drain. I normally suck one quart of tranny fluid out the fill tube every three engine oil changes as periodic / preventive maintenance on older high mile vehicles- gradual change is good for high mile transmissions. Ive had transmissions with shift issues that shops said it needs to be replaced (lol). By doing my above info, They lasted much longer, one Corolla 50,000 miles more (still worked, sold the cars). Why buy a rebuilt trans that cost more than a beater car??????

Just added a Bottle to my Forester XT with the 4EAT auto. Because of the very small filler tube on the 4EAT , and the fact that the LUCUS is very thick, it actually took me an hour to get the whole bottle in. Cant say I notice any difference because my transmission had no issues, it was just due for a fluid and filter change.

Thank you for this video! So my boy's 2001 Subaru legacy automatic transmission stopped engaging in drive. I could get it in reverse but no drive gear. I drained the transmission fluid and added new trans fluid plus one bottle of the Lucas trans fix. I had him with each drive gear and holding his foot on the brake idle it for 2 to 3 minutes then go backwards in drive gear doing the same and after the first cycle it started engaging in drive gears and for a month now has been driving fine with no shiffting issues, he's even taken a long trip and back with no issues. I have a 40 mile commute with a slight grade up hill. When leaving to work it shifted fine. When i get to work, my trans temp is pushing 200 and it shifts hard from gear to gear. Its obvious the oil is so hot its like water, with no cushion. Even with a trans oil cooler. I put this in my truck and when i get off the freeway, no more hard shifting. Also the oil is about 5 to 10 degrees cooler ... hmm dont really understand that or maybe the torque converter is more efficient and not beating the oil up. This stuff is great!

I have a 2004 Town & Country with over 200k. The trans. would slip out of gear between 2 & 3 (P0733). I changed the solenoid pack and speed sensors but that did nothing. So I added a bottle of Lucus but that didn't help either. However, I did notice that when it was cold it didn't slip out. So I decided to add more Lucus thinking that if I could just get the fluid a little thicker when it was warm that it might be enough to make the difference. And it worked! It hasn't slipped yet, but I'm not pushing it very hard either. I figure that if I keep in mind that it's on the way out, and I don't push it too hard, it might buy me a little time. There's probably a point where the fluid gets too thick to work properly but if you add a little at a time, not too much at once, it might work. Keep in mind to take out as much as you put in each time so you don't overfill it. Good luck.

Ok, so I didn't have a problem with my transmission slipping, but I did have a fluid leak. I really didn't expect much from this product, but surprisingly it seems to have worked. I didn't want to drain out any of my transmission fluid, so I just added it to the full line (about 1/4 of the bottle) the first time. I checked it again after several weeks and it was a little low again so I added a little more. It's been several months now and I've been checking the level religiously, but I haven't had to add any more since.

It is within the marks now. I then drove and it worked great before you almost could not feel it engage in drive now it goes in drive fast .

I'm glad I found this video, my 05 Crown Victoria P71 has slipping gears when trying to shift into drive. It has a stock transmission, with around 213k miles. I was a little hesitant on buying this product because I've never had a slipping transmission before in my old 95 F250 or my parent's 09 Ford Focus. But I've heard a lot about this product and after some consideration and some videos, I'll give it a try and hope for the best.

I hate to say it, but it actually says it is NOT compatible with CVT. The label says: "Compatible with all transmissions and transmission fluids with the exception of CVT transmissions and transmission fluids". -Lucas This stuff really does/has worked great on my NON CVT transmission (awd, auto trans, '03 Aztek), though. I've found it's hard to go wrong with Lucas, SeaFoam, or Valvoline products.

Just to follow-up. You do not need to drain existing transmission fluid because this dissolves once you pour in. I can confirm because I had my son's car transmission fluid replaced the prior week...then added a full bottle of this a week later with no issues. However, I might do some research because a GMC certified transmission specialists said this Lucas Transmission Fix can cause issues with modern day car computer systems and their sensors. I've seen no issues in my son's 2012 Buick Regal but the GMC guy implied this is more for older cars and should be pulled off the market? I would do your homework on the make/model before using.

I don't understand this. If you add one full bottle 24 oz of Lucas transmission fix won't that overfill the transmission? Because if my transmission is already full at the line, I'm going to add 24 oz extra to my already full transmission fluid and they're also saying add a second bottle if need to be and that would be 48 oz of transmission fluid extra in my already transmission fluid that's full. I don't quite understand this. I was always told not to overfill my transmission fluid and doing this you're overfilling. Correct me if I'm wrong or what's going on I don't know. The only thing I would think to do is take out 24 oz of regular fluid out of your transmission and then add this in that would be the right way of doing it I think sorry for the long blog

I believe auto trans only.! all manual trans have a clutch and adding this to your manual trans with a worn slipping clutch will not help your problem. Internally they have syncros and help aid slow down the main shaft to ease what ever gear to mesh properly. And if these are pretty worn, only way to fix is a complete build. Thus adding an additive will not help. *ASE certified tech here. ;)

There is no syncros inside conventional autos (this fluid is designed for planetary gearset type). It swells seals plus the additive that makes clutch packs grip. This is why you dont add it to transmissions without problems (adding it is not a precaution).

@@boosee51 Yes it is. The truck started to have that clacking noise associated with cam phaser problem. My mechanic told me that owners do not change oil often enough and the oil ports are too small. My friend has an '02 or '03 Accord and had the same issue. We removed the solenoids, cleaned the filter screens, and reinstalled them. No problems since. It's only been ~2,500 miles, but it used to mess up before you even got out of the driveway every single time. They were 2 separate "sets" on his, they are on the outside of trans (1 on top of trans and 1 toward front between trans and radiator) and very easy to get to and remove/install from under the hood. A couple hour job at most, and you don't even need to crawl under the car. Try it out.

BJ luvit Hey man I have a 1997 prelude base Automatic and my transmission was acting up a little and check engine light on for solenoids!Car was also randomly shutting off with no power! Well what I did first was change the “main relay switch” under steering wheel over to the Left up under plastic just unclip and add new one and tuck under plastic, I didn’t remove old one from bracket! Next I drained old trans fluid added 3quarts and put one 16 ounce bottle of seafoam trans cleaner in transmission! This car takes 3.5 quarts of trans fluid for a drain and fill the .5 is the seafoam cleaner, after 10 miles the light went out for solenoids dual linear on top back of transmission NOT the shift solenoids when you open Hood and look straight down, I was so happy the light went off!! Now it’s been 300 miles later NO light, NO shutting off randomly, trans feel better! Now I’m going to change fluid again and add some more seafoam trans lube OR some of this Lucas trans fix NOT both at same time and see if shifting gets even more better from 1st to 2nd gear, 170,000 miles on prelude and still running good lol!! Hope this info helps👍
