The scene where a teenager is apparently having a sever drug overdose and she mentions the drama with her friends relationship, and the teenagers start fighting over that despite the adults pointing out how much that genuinely doesn’t matter at all in this moment, is a really good encapsulation of teen drama as a whole.

13:40 As someone who is in sobriety, and has been surrounded by addicts during my teenage years ... I can attest how accurate and realistic this traffic scene is. I knew quite a few other patients in dual diagnosis & rehab hospitals who told me this exact story. Seeing this scene was pretty surprising. My friends would tell me stories about them being on the way to treatment and jumping out of a moving car to avoid intake. It's a terrifying and huge step , going into detox. It's mentally and physically draining and can be dangerous if not done under the care of medical professionals. In general, when you hit rock bottom (at least)from substances, you are so emotionally and physically at your wits end and nothing makes sense . Everything hurts and every fiber in your being wants it all to end. Anything to stop the torture of the withdrawals. Addiction is a disease and a type of imprisonment that sneaks up on you and thoroughly infects every single aspect of your person. I'm 5+ years clean. Couldn't have done it without taking that leap into detox, inpatient, outpatient, sober houses, and completely changing "people places and things" . It's possible. ❤
@jaiden4942 жыл бұрын
A lot of people do judge euphoria for glamourizing addiction and teens doing crazy shit but it’s written from the writers past experience and I find that interesting. Ofc not all teens are doing drugs and partying and having sex but all teens also aren’t addicted to drugs so of course his perspective of high school is wildly different from my own. That’s probably why the scene seems so accurate and I’m so happy that you’ve been able to stay clean and strong❤️congratulations!
@morgangray36322 жыл бұрын
And this is why I love Euphoria. It’s more accurate and realistic then people make it out to be. Over course there are a few dramatizations but it’s a TV show. The storyline is pretty accurate for a small town High School imo.
@thebusinesswoman232 жыл бұрын
@@jaiden494 Thank you for informing me more about this. I didn't know about the writer's history, although I had a feeling someone writing had delt with substance use disorder . You can't make up situations like these, and have it really effect the viewers in such a profound way. To me the scene is a symbolic representation of the fact she is willing to risk her life to continue her lifestyle. Shown both by the immediate danger of the run through traffic and by the refusal to get treatment. This in itself, is spot-on behavior for addicts. I lost sight of the immediate risk of using and focused on the "reward" of not being physically sick from withdrawals and avoiding more costly ambulance trips to the ER. A survival instinct kicks in for most people when avoiding tangible/ experienced physical danger or even discomfort. The long term effects take a back-burner, unfortunately. The repetitiveness of the cycle was hypnotic and yet, full of complete and utter despair. Also thank you all for the kind words on my sobriety. It made me smile . I really appreciate it 🙏

@Ana Pie right? It’s just like the “hardcore” version of every other show, girl I swear all shows have to do is have a normal teen drama that’s basically gossip girl, or the oc, or one tree hill but make it “gritty” with sex and substances and everyone loses their mind and thinks it’s somehow revolutionary! I remember thinking I was so adult watching one tree hill and gossip girl as a teenager and like “omg this is so my life” because I went to private school too, when in reality 90% of high schools are mostly boring with over hyped gossip lol It’s like the edgy dark parts of what everyone thinks their normal teenage drama is lmao It’s definitely not the first and will absolutely not be the last of its kind lol

Jacob Elordi is an amazing actor he does such a great job with these characters. I feel bad that I’ve hated every character he’s played, but I guess that means he’s doing a good job as an actor 😂

Never watched euphoria but this has been the funniest I’ve ever watched maybe because it’s out of context🤩

The reason I can't watch this show is because I've been through traumatic things and this show reminds me of them.

If you have someone who has suffered from addition in your life those scenes with Roos meltdown is so hard to watch. Every moment feels so real it brings me to tears. They portrayed how it feels so well
