It's always a good week when 2 strats are laying around. Both of these Strats are made by fender, and they both feature alder bodies, maple necks and rosewood fingerboards. They are both fairly weighty, and they both have similar feeling necks too! The biggest difference between them (aside from the fact that one was made in America with a
sunburst finish, and the other was made in Mexico with a white finish) is that the American strat (Lucas's first great guitar) came with Lace
Sensor Gold pickups, and the white Mexican strat (a guitar belonging to a friend of Lucas) has been modified with Lollar black face pickups.
The main point of comparison here is Lollar (great after market single coil pickups) being put head to head with Gold Lace Sensors (now an aftermarket quasi noiseless option), that used to come standard on some Fender guitars in the late 1980s' and 1990s'. Both pickups cost a little to invest in, both have different tonal characteristics, and you may like one more than the other depending on your needs or playing situation.
