So Lucasi did what Mcdermott has done for years with cabon inside their wood shafts, interesting. No wonder I like the G-core and the I2 shafts by Mcdermott. I gotta try one of those Infuzed shafts. I will never go full carbon because of the feel and feedback I get from wood. Let's say I'm oldschool. For the last decade or so, my favorite shaft has been the Predator 314/3, but I will try this one out.. Liked, subbed, and all those good things. Shoot 'em straight and stay safe! Cheers from Denmark.

Thank you so much for the like and sub and all those things! Yes, Lucasi has carbon fiber in theirs now too. I agree with you completely. I missed the old school feel and feedback so I'm back, baby! lol. I mentioned it in the review but I was looking at the Infuzed shaft before Lucasi reached out. The Mcdermott Ipro was another one I looked at. McDermott is huge in my area so it was easier to get my hands on one. I wasn't as big of a fan of the taper on the IPro. As a friend of mine described it, "feels a bit chunky". I do have a gcore shaft at home and have enjoyed that shaft for years and like the taper a lot more on that one. Nothing wrong with any of them though. Its all a matter of preference. I did like the Infuzed over the Ipro. I personally dont have experience with I2 or I3 shafts. Ill have to try those out just for comparison. Thanks again! Shoot 'em straight and stay safe! Cheers from Idaho

@@JonesyNorthmen I think the OB Fusion and Mezz ExPro both have carbon in them.

I hated the G-core shaft. Too much deflection for me. Felt cheesy, so hopefully the Lucasi feels much better.

I prefer the feel and feedback of a wood shaft, but I don't like the staining and warpage; I imagine the carbon fiber inside the shaft helps prevent warpage.
@JonesyNorthmen2 ай бұрын
I also prefer the feedback. You are right, the carbon fiber does help prevent warping. Its still possible for the staining. Its worth the trade off in my personal opinion.

Hi Jonsey. Can you comment on the differences between the Maple and the Keilwood inFuzed shafts? I guess the maple is a 10 piece shaft and the keilwood is a single piece? Is the farrule the same? How about feel, deflection, performance? Is there a reason to select on over the other in your opinion?
@JonesyNorthmenАй бұрын
Hello! Thank you so much for watching and for your question. You are right, both shafts are maple. The main difference is the kielwood shaft is a solid piece that has been put through the torrefication process while the spliced shaft is 10 different pieces. They both are available with the same tip sizes, same ferrule, and same joints although the kielwood is also available in the turbo lock joint for Pure X cues. Same carbon fiber materials. The performance is only slightly different. In my experience and testing the spliced maple shaft has slightly lower deflection but they both perform excellently in that category. I personally like the spliced shaft a hair more. slightly lower deflection but I also like the traditional look. I think they sound very similar and they both have that traditional wood feeling hit. The kielwood shaft is very nice, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Really good video! But I get a question about how to choose the tip size of it. I tried to use 11.8 and 12.4 before. But for the Lucasi one, it got 12 and 12.5mm as options. So any suggestions of it? Thank you so much!
@JonesyNorthmen2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! Tip size is all a matter of preference and I think the main thing that comes into play is finger length. For instance Mr Rodney Morris plays with a 13mm tip but his fingers are long as heck! I think if you have played with tips as small as 11.8 you would be happy with the 12mm, but I know from playing with both you can't go wrong with either. I definitely prefer the 12

What’s the length of the shaft? And what’s the maintenance like? And also do you feel like you need a glove?

Do they make them in natural 30, 3/8 x 11 with an unfinished collar? I have a natural 60in Southwest. I’d want the ring work to be mane to match.
@JonesyNorthmen2 ай бұрын
I don't think they are available in that joint. But something I should have said in the video (but Ill update in the written review) is that Fort Worth Billiards has a partnership with Lucasi and does all of their warranty and cue work. You might want to reach out to them if they are able to get blanks and put in unique joints and leave the collar unfinished.

@@bell989 there are makers who use that pin. Maybe not the big brands, but I’ve seen them.

Eagle eye! So as I mentioned I tried out two shaft sizes. a 12 and a 12.5. I just had them on different butts so I wouldn't have to go back and forth. That's all.

Others speak, too, to the better hit of wood. There must be something there with carbon fiber and wood. Find it with McDermott (its i-1, i-2, i-3, i-Pro, G-core), Mezz Ex Pro, Meucci Carbon Pro (CF outside and maple at tip, I think), Pure X FUZED kielwood, OB Cues Fusion, Fury LC Series or ST-2 Hybrid, and Bear RB-1. Is there anyone else making CF-Maple shafts?
@JonesyNorthmenАй бұрын
You are definitely right. There us something there. Ive personally tried a couple of the McDermott offerings and while I think they are good, there are small things that didn't make them a good fit for me. I know a handful of people who love them. The Pure X Fuzed is the same line as the Lucasi InFuzed. I never got a chance to try the OB Fusion before they closed shop but I was a huge fan of OB back in the day. You named all the options I can think of and more. I didnt even know Fury and Bear had C/W shafts

A bit similar to the "Billiard Corner". Not bad but you should find your own way.

I definitely respect him and what he does. This was my first review and watched a bunch of reviews from several different creators including Billiard Corner to figure out what people would look for in a review, what types of questions I should ask, ect. I took inspiration from several, as I get more comfortable on the platform Im sure Ill get better about carving out my own style. Definitely not trying to take anything away from any other creator. Thanks for the feedback.

Great review. However, I have a question. As a newbie, I was confused when you said there was very little deflection yet the cue ball did not come back on a straight line. Am I missing something? To put it in perspective, I was ‘told’ to warm up by hitting the cue ball just like you did but to get it to come back in a straight line back to the tip of my cue.
@JonesyNorthmen2 ай бұрын
Thank you! And no problem. So that drill you are talking about you would be hitting the cue ball in the very center to shoot it straight down the table and have it come straight back. What Im testing in the deflection test is at the most extreme side spin, so hitting close to the edge of the cue ball, how much does it deflect or push away from the straight line. Hitting the cue ball with extreme side spin will push it off that straight line. What shafts are trying to achieve with "low deflection" is minimizing the amount it pushes the cue ball which makes aiming a whole lot easier.
