Here's some advice to incoming freshman from an incoming senior: -Before school starts get the necessary school supplies for the school year! In high school, there isn't really a school supplies list because every student has different classes. So I recommend getting a binder, some dividers, a couple of spiral notebooks, index cards, pens, pencils, highlighters, colored pencils, and maybe a pencil case. -Usually high school's have orientation days for freshman only so use that time to get used to the school a little bit and maybe make a friend! -The night before the first day, make sure you have clothes picked out and your backpack ready to head out the door on time so you won't be late for your first day and getting everything prepared the night before will make it less stressful for you! -Set your alarm to wake up at least 2 hours before school starts to make sure you have enough time to get ready and you won't be late! So if school starts at 7:30, wake up at 5:30. -If you have a friend that you know that is going to the same school as you, maybe arrange a meetup somewhere at the school so you won't feel so alone on the first day. -Upperclassmen really aren't as scary as some people might make them seem so don't be afraid to ask them for help but there might be that one kid who gets a little cocky(in my experience sophomores) and might be like 'omg ew freshman' but don't worry about them lol just don't enter high school thinking you're the shit because you're finally in high school because it will make upperclassmen not take you seriously -Don't worry about being late to class during the first week of high school. Teachers understand that freshman are still adjusting to high school so they will let you slide. -Get a map of your school to make it easier for you to find your classes. -A lot of people say that colleges don't look at your freshman year so that makes freshman think it's okay to slack off but don't!!! Freshman year grades still go into your GPA. -If your taking honors classes, take those seriously!!!! They will prepare you for AP classes in your sophomore, junior and senior year if you choose to take them. (If you don't know what AP classes are, they're basically college level classes and if you pass the AP test, then you won't have to take that certain class in college.) -Focus on your academics and please please PLEASE don't let boys/girls/drama take over your life because once you graduate not of that will matter anymore trust me. -Take fun electives and join clubs!!! Make your freshman experience as fun as possible. Go to football games, homecoming, and any other activity because it will make your high school experience so much better. High school can sometimes be scary and stressful but remember you are not alone and many others are in the same situation as you are. Please make your high school years the best years because before you know it you're about to be a senior and wishing you can start freshman year all over again c: *IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO REPLY AND I'LL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER!*

Here in UK we start secondary school at the age of 11 so I started in 2011 can't believe it's been 6 years since my first year of secondary, we only stay in secondary for 5 years and I was a leaver last year class of 2016 :) I'm now just finishing my first year of college, I have 2 more years till I finish college so that's crazy !!

I live in belgium ( so sorry for my bad english😂) and in my school we have the same class for every lesson. But means freshman that's it your first year of highschool? Cause i'm almost 14 but i go to the third year of highschool now. Here it's like elementary school: 3 years for todlers . Then 6 years ( where you learn things) for kids, and after that you go to highschool for another 6 years. So how does it work in america?

I'm going to get out of high school at 16 years old, that means that here we only do 2 years if you want to go to a university and if don't want to you can do 3 years (sometimes more) I'm in freshman year, but here freshman year is the last grade of middle school, and is so easy to talk to everyone, you even can talk to senior year students, and every section is together (kinder garden, elementary school, middle school, and high school )

I know how you feel I moved from New Mexico to Arizona at the end of 5th grade (March of 2014) I didn't know that many people (like no one) then when it came to the next school year I knew a little more people then I left then came back last school year and knew almost everyone. the elementary and middle are the same campus and next year I'll know some of the people

Sheyniqua Mossiah I know this might sound a bit cliche but on the first week or so it is really important to try to talk to as many people as you can in your classes so you don't feel alone later in the year. Secondly, try to avoid high school drama. I experienced some really annoying situations where I was consumed by some stupid drama that was very petty and it ended up eating into my homework time and stuff. Finally, please try to enjoy your time in high school because I'm going into senior year and it feels like yesterday I stepped into the school as a freshman and it makes me really sad to think that I'll be leaving all my friends behind to go to college soon.

Wait, so how old are you when you start high school in the us? Because I live in Mexico and elementary school is 6 years and then middle school is 3 years but you don't call it like 7th, 8th and stuff. You call it again 1st, 2nd and 3rd. And high school is another 3 years and again 1st, 2nd and 3rd. And when you are in elementary school you enter when you are like 6 or 7, in middle school you are 13 or 14 some are 12 and in high school either 15 or 16

Just be you and have fun. One thing I didn't know when I started is that you're not going to walking out on the last day of school with the people you walked in with and that's okay. Just make a lot of friends and get your work done and again just have fun.
