This video is awesome! I loved the cave with the candles but I don't think I could do it! Looks crazy but so much fun! What an adventure! Also I like how David is so honest about staying in hostels. I agree, for me it is important to get enough rest at night. I so much enjoyed this video! 😊

Glad you liked it Barbara. We are always trying something new and trying to get outside of our comfort zone. This one was our most extreme challenge yet!

Lol…we are right there with you guys when it comes to hostels! We also like watching Netflix in bed after a long day of exploring 😅 and a good night’s rest without noise 🙉 You two are so brave going into that cave with candles! I would not enjoy the wax dripping on my hands 😅 The tubing looked so relaxing. But those blue pools must’ve been amazing to see in person, looked stunning 💙

Love how you didn't tell David it was a hostel until arrival! 😂 In South America we stayed in some incredible 'hostels' nicer than most hotels or Airbnbs we could've booked, our tip would be don't let the title 'hostel' put you off always. Just don't pick one that is a party hostel. We work in our rooms even in hostels but that being said we prefer an airbnb for longer stays. That cave adventure looked so fun, you both seemed so exhilarated, I'm glad you addressed the candle thing as I was watching and thinking those candles must constantly need re lighting! We recently did some river tubing and also found it so relaxing and peaceful.

Thanks for sharing your hostel experience. We’re going to try another one in the Galapagos just don’t tell David that! 😅 Btw is there a way to filter our party hostels or you just read the reviews to figure that out.

First time staying at a hostel?! Well that's a great spot to try it for the first time, definitely doesn't look like my first hostel experience with 6 other people in the same room ;) Love the experience in the caves with the candles, looking super exciting! I can sleep thru anything but Steve really prefers a silent room to sleep!
@LucasWorldTravel2 жыл бұрын
Oh, believe me I (Kendra) had that 6 person to a room experience as well. It was David's first time in a hostel and he was not so impressed. We definitely prefer quiet places. I think our party days are over.

Great video! That place is so beautiful! Please let me know...when was this video filmed? It's really helpful in these kind of videos to know what time of year they are filmed for weather, temperature, greenery, river levels etc. Thanks!

You guys got up to some adventurous things in this video! That cave was wild, I've never even heard of visiting a cave by candlelight and it's so interesting to see people getting driven around in the back of a pick-up truck. I liked the painting in your hostel, but that's too bad about the wifi. I'm more about the peace and quiet too. The waterfalls were very pretty.

We were just blissfully ignorant of what was about the go down in that cave. If we knew in advance, we probably would have been too scared. Sometimes it's a blessing to not know what's going on.

One of the best places i´ve ever been (Year 2012). Back in the days there were no barriers at the "devils hole", where the water goes under the limestone. Very tricky not to fall into ;-) .

We definitely would take on the crazy cave experience 😁 I don't think I've ever seen an excursion like that. I love how adventurous you two are becoming! I would have been nervous swimming with that candle 😳 We have not yet tried a hostel so I was very interested in hearing about your experience. We hope you end up hiking the volcano!

You guys would definitely love the cave adventure. It was so unique and unlike anything else we’ve ever experienced. We are definitely braver and more adventurous these days thanks to all of these adventures. It’s a great feeling to have conquered so many fears over our years of travel.

thanks for the video! it's helping me plan..how many days was your Guatemalan tour? how far/long was the ride from the hostal to the cave? how deep was the water...would you recommend hiking waterproof sandals for the cave tour or swimming shoes.
@LucasWorldTravel Жыл бұрын
We spent 3.5 weeks in Guatamala. It takes around 45 minutes to get to Semuc Champey from the hostal, but transportation is easily arranged with your hostal. The water was shallow in some parts, deep in others. Our feet could not alway touch the bottom so you definitely need to swim some part. David used watershoes and I went barefoot. Both work well as it's slippery no matter what.

It's right next to Semuc Champey. You can book the cave and Semuc Champey at the same time.

Hostels are a great way to save if money is tight and you love being around people and socializing alot. I never stayed at a hostel I'm a introvert and I love my solitude and privacy at the end of a long day and must have a private bathroom so definitely not for me.
@LucasWorldTravel Жыл бұрын
I, Kendra, am an introvert as well so I understand completely. We love to get out of our comfort zone every now and then and this town was so small that hostels really were the only thing available. It was definitely an interesting experience.
