Keine geringere als Elisabeth Schwarzkopf soll Lucia Popp mit den Worten "Sie sind ein Wundertier!" gelobt haben. Was hat sie damit gemeint? In den Aufnahmen barocker Musik hört man es. Diese Musik gehört nicht zum Repertoire mit dem Lucia Popp in Verbindung bringt, dennoch bewältigt sie auch diese Herausforderung bravourös. Sie konnte einfach alles singen: geistliche Musik, Oper, Lied.

Yes, I think Bach was the never ending stream (indeed, the German word Bach means creek or rivulet) to which all the composers after him were drawn to drink from his abundant elixir.
