Lil funfact: Lucian got a small voice update back when Senna got released, and those actually showed a bit more of Lucian's heart of gold and how much he and Senna loves each other and wishes the best for them....when he's not trying to obliterate thresh ofc. I still consider the ruination event as a lie created by Ahkshan just so he's the stand out hero due to all the mischaracterization lol

My first contact with Lucian, when I grew more interested in League's lore, was his login screen. And damn, if that login screen isn't extremely badass, I don't know what is. I do think it was a perfect job to show his character, so I will always appreciate that about Lucian (and an actual animation on a login screen with dialogue that ends in the splash art-chef's kiss, still gives me chills to this day.)

As an Afro American, I don't have any problems with Lucian's design at all. While the idea that the first black character being a shooter who can spin a whole block with his ultimate may seem bad, I think his character makes it less of a "this is what all black men are like" and more of a Blaxploitation action hero, which I think is dope as hell

Lucian is always my go to argument for what Sylas passive should be. They say 'a fight is like a dance' and I think Lucian is a great example of that. Needing to intermingle your passive autos BETWEEN your abilities can make it much more of an actual battle of skills as opposed to something like Sylas that's just 'Mash buttons. Do damage. Point and click dash heal. Spin around 3 times because of banked passive.'

for the sentinels of light event i feel like an in universe reason for there to be so many reasons is because different scholars from all these different orders and such are trying to find out what happened and so they all go around interviewing people and investigating and stuff and all of them end up with different conclusions. Like, the one with Shyvana being in petricite might be written by someone not from Demacia/not familliar with how petricite works or what Shyvanna does, the ones with the more emotional parts could be other sentinels or maybe someone from Piltover, and the ruination light novel is written by a drunk pirate who is trying to make himself look cool bc he was "totally there for the entire event just look at my costume" which is the one Graves sold so it's not even his.

The thing is that Lucian story was "completed" with the release of Senna. He was all about getting to Thresh, end his spectral ass and get Senna back or at least release her soul. The entire Sentinels of Light story is Senna's and Viego's story mostly, and Lucian is just second fiddle.

I like the parallel that both Viego and Lucian both want their wives back, both will stop at nothing to protect them, and for one of them to win, necessarily one has to lose. But there's the problem that it's literally just the parallel, they showcase 0 traits on Lucian to justify us taking his side over Viego's, in the sense of "both of them have the exact same motivation, what makes Lucian's more noble than Viego's" (I'm about to ruin my comment by inserting an unpopular opinion but) I never understood how Senna and Gwen stayed alive after the ruination, I might be stupid but Akshan killed-killed Isolde to set her soul free to revive Viego and make him mortal, so how is her soul still keeping Gwen and Senna alive if it's now full on the spirit realm. My point in bringing this up is that this could be the thing to set the parallels apart, both want their wives back, but Lucian knows that to stop Viego he also has to let Senna go. So he can fall on the same obsession as Viego or grow and accept that people can't stay with him forever. Without that stake he was left with just being obsessed

In that story they are similar in the way they they both grow to be obsessed with the lives of their significant others, that's the parallel. The flaw of the story is more that they make this parallel and it is never challenged, both of them are obsessed and overprotective, but Lucian is the good guy not for anything related to the perallel but for not being a war criminal

Heads up Nicky, the diamond emblem above the loading screen portrait of Akali indicates she is at a diamond level achievement-wise (essentially she played a lot of games) with the border around the portrait indicating their past rank. She probably was diamond last season, though i coudln't tell unless i saw the bottom of the portrait but i think its the diamond color. Side note, i wish there was more border customizations :(

I feel like Lucian has turned into something like an accesory for Senna. Remember before her release, people used to say that lucian's wife is just a plot device to link thresh and lucian in a rivalry but after he freed her senna is the one that does everything perfectly and lucian is in the background. When sentinels of light came out senna became the leader because of course she did, then when lucian was worried for her because of her mental state he was showed as a stupid overprotective guy because Senna is perfect and already knows everything about isolde and viego. Lucian freed from the lantern? Nah she was just planning that and had a super gun made of other sentinels ready to defeat the ruination. Parallels with Viego and Lucian and their motivation for love? Nah this is about senna and isolde being haunted by a very evil sad boy that was an abuser because he made Isolde wear fancy dresses Does being dead for so long affected senna? Nah she now and is a half-ghost half-human that has absolute control of light and darkness and souls and leads the way to the defeat of the balck mist and lucian is more like a turret that shoots light somentimes and is always orbitating her and talking nonsense. Lucian was a professional sentinel that spent years fighting the black mist? Actually senna taught him everything he knows and everything he ever accomplished was thanks to her, she even died because lucian did something wrong against thresh and she had to sacrifice herself. Basically Lucian had to be made less so senna can be put in a throne and look cooler like the queen girlboss that she is intended to be.

Lucian is one of the few characters whose helping of mages is completely justified even in the Demacian regime - he knew firsthand about the hypocrisy of the system, and young as he was, he could do nothing about it but help people as much as he could. Its kinda sad that that's not actually special in any way because Riot refuses to make a Demacian champion be indoctrinated and *then* break from their former misconceptions once they learn the truth. All of them NEED to have disliked mage oppression from the beginning and be pristine and incapable of error, so Lucien's heritage literally don't matter here.
