I first heard them sing this in 1962, and I thought, "I've heard it as Puccini heard it in his mind." Here they are 27 years later, and for both the voices and the personae are yet richer, deeper, and more complex. What a joy...so intensely beautiful...a peak.... For me, Mirella Freni simply stands alone among the 20th-century Mimis, and no pair did La Bohème like the two of them. Thank you so much for posting.
