F#minor happens to be the Relative Minor Key Signature to A Major so it works perfectly! (more boring music theory) To get any major key signature's relative minor you just drop down 3 half steps so in this case: A Major drops down one half step to G#, then drop another half step to G, and finally drop one last half step to reach F# thus becoming the relative minor to A major.
