I feel like really playing Dominions, while you play to win, I feel you have to accept that there's a very real chance it doesn't happen and you just enjoy the ride you get. I'm all for Marignon selling himself as well as he can.

Yeah honestly a Dominions Tower Defense mod would be a great game mode. You start with say 15 provinces or so, plus a bunch of Thrones or similar you can try to claim, and you get periodic scripted attacks every 6 turns of increasing intensity. But the closest thing in multiplayer to that is playing a losing position to its inevitable conclusion.

It's always interesting watching these successful hyper aggressive players. Most impressive is still Arco playing Ys in your first tournament finals. Especially in contrast to how long the second finals dragged on.
@LucidTactics17 күн бұрын
Yeah its largely possible because of a 'Moat'. With asphodel and all popkill its people not wanting to fight and lose a lot for no rewards. For aquatic nations its almost impossible to be conquered by land nations.

@@LucidTacticstrue though a motivated coalition can make it very annoying for you to hold territory on land, while raiding into your ocean often enough that you have to spend gems defending against those attacks. It's just very hard to motivate everyone to do that; throwing all your gems into a doomed underwater invasion rarely feels like a path to victory, even in situations where it's very important for stopping that player, via forcing them to commit resources that would have won them wars elsewhere.

@@DemonsthenesDominionsThe attrition is really bad when attacking LA R’yleh. After a campaign of driving them back into the sea, even if you win, all commanders involved are left insane.

I have really enjoyed these, but I gotta say, I'm little bit let down by the audio quality. As a non-native speaker it's sometimes quite hard to hear what they are talking about.

Aight I'll try a different method entirely of recording future episodes. Will kick in around ep14

Hopefully the good karma I got hydraing with Lucid against double diagonal wars offsets the bad karma of hydraing here and allying a diagonal war initiator.

I actually really like animal cemetary those spawns really add up and are pretty good. It's no tower of the devil's bride though.

Yeah it's like nothing compared to Asphodel freespawn but a pretty fine use of a D1 Bakemono Shaman's time. I actually really like the increased unit numbers that Illwinter did on some of the sites for dom6; the main ones that still feel bad are the ones that get you just 1d5 Soulless.

Or 1-2 foul spawn. At least a level 1 priest is all you need for that one I guess.

yeah the politics in this game are a chit-show, guessing some of the other nations didnt have as many scouts to see how big Aspho actually is, but then again they know how many capitals they're sitting on so it should be pretty obvious they are out of control.

I think everyone on the lobby is being pretty rational, given their position. If Asphodel is in position 1 and Shinuyama is in position 2 and both have capable players, what you want as anyone else in the lobby is to have those two fight a brutal destructive war while you catch up. There's two bad outcomes for you in such a position: (1) the leading nations fail to fight each other and instead do a snowball race, getting further ahead of you, and (2) one of those nations wins decisively and get huge off their victory. So I think Ulm and Nidavangr felt that they would team up with the TC remnants and kill Pyrene while Shinuyama and Na'Ba hopefully stalemate vs Asphodel plus Marignon. If one side looks to be winning decisively, one imagines they'll maybe try to save the loser. Pyrene, TC, and Marignon have somewhat long odds in this diplomatic state and limited agency in that diplomacy, but Ulm and Nidavangr are fighting a war where, if they do really well, they'll be in a stronger position for winning the game.

@@DemonsthenesDominions I gotcha, yeah that makes a lot of sense. I wasnt taking into account that you guys are in position 2, in my head I was thinking Nidavangr was pretty close to the same size as yall.

It would be nice if you would leave more space for your co-casters to shine. It happens very, very frequently that you cut off someone elses sentence. It's a bit jarring.

I know it's annoying to listen to, it's caused by call lag, plus both of us looking at the game map and thus unable to see each other. No visual cues of whether the other person is about to speak plus lag in the audible cue of whether they're already speaking = starting to talk when the other person is also trying to talk. Sorry! Lucid feels really quite polite to chat with. Maybe we can figure out a better way to manage cues around it; I know I sometimes don't wait long enough to know if he's finished a thought... I'm very reliant on visual cues in person.

@DemonsthenesDominions I actually mean it the other way around, I am very interested in your thoughts and darksidecookies', as you two are the players of the game. It feels like Lucid cuts you off quite a bunch. Thank you for the understanding response, and I hadn't realised the difficulties of being in a call. And thanks for the content, it's cool to see more thoughtful Dom6 multilayer.
