I bet this always will be my favorite AGT performance ever. No sad backstory to latch onto. Just her voice and stage presence.

The best introduction to Courtney. In the coming years, she is going to dominate the music industry. Her range is near universal. She can sing RnR, Pop, Gospel, Jazz Standards, Operatic, Funk, Soul...etc. I could give you link after link after link to the incredible videos and audios of her, she is just incredible. The power of her singing, in contrast with her natural shy nature of a young girl from Hartlepool, England is just phenomenal, she needs to be cherished for the gift that she is. The way that she changes her tone from British teen, to an African American woman of at least 40, is mind blowing. There are plenty of videos of her singing without a backing track, just with either guitar or piano accompaniment that shows that this is no fake, she is not lip-syncing, it is her natural, raw talent.

Your reaction is like virtually everyone who sees this for the first time--shock and awe! It is one of the most viewed auditions on AGT ever, now having well over a half billion views in all formats worldwide. Courtney is the most unique rising star out there. She has many more videos online. I would suggest AGT Champions singing Pretty Little Thing and several more contemporary covers on her KZbin VEVO channel. Courtney is now 18, looks very different, and because of Covid and other things her career has been somewhat on hold. But now she is an independent singer/songwriter with her first professional original release due on February 24--millions of fans are waiting!

I fell in love with her when she did this one. Listen to her every day and it makes my day better. You know I was in school with the Winter brothers. About 25 miles away at the same time was Janis Joplin and I played bass with her also in the high school years. You are stepping into great new music path and I appreciate that. Thanks ❤

Reactions to this video have been my favorite thing on KZbin for three years now. The shock on people's faces helps me relive seeing it for the first time over four years ago, so thank you for this. Courtney will be releasing her first original single on the 24th, so you've discovered her at a very exciting moment in her career. My all-time favorite performance is her rendition of River Deep Mountain High in the AGT finals: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b53OhaiIrLl9j8k

Great reaction I was first introduced to Courtney through this audition, and I have been following her ever since. If you want to watch more then check out all her performances on AGT, then her 4 cover sessions and you will not be disappointed. Plus on the 24th of this month she will be releasing her very first single, and I can’t wait 😁😁😁

The reaction people have to this video never gets old. I've seen it literally a hundred times and each time it is nearly exactly the same; people can't believe what they are seeing and hearing. But time has passed since Courtney was 13 and she has grown up and gotten even better. I would suggest you listen to her covers of Someone You Loved, Sucker, Sign of the Times, or Old Town Road. You may think you know these songs but, trust me, you haven't heard them the way Courtney does them. There's also a track of Proud Mary Courtney sang in a kareoke bar in Turkey on her 18th birthday and the tore it up. She is finally releasing her own song on February 24 and I, like so many others, can't wait. So, please do your homework by listening to some of her other, more current music, and tune in and react to her first original single. You will have literally thousands of eyes and ears on you. All the best.

She is the modern day female version of jagger. As she belts her music she manages to use the entire stage to show her stage performance. Not many performers have that much talent and energy. She is a definite joy to hear and watch and simply owned that stage.❤❤🎉🎉

Hi Lucie! So cool that you've come upon Courtney's music. Courtney is absolutely amazing. The best thing to happen to the music world in decades, if not forever. She is equally great in everything from Rock to R&B, Funk, Soul and Ballads and there never is any loss to the incredible quality of her music. She even had an opera clip go viral on TikTok. You can't fully tell from this audition, but she is a true stage beast, in the best sense of the word, and dominates a stage like no other when she's rocking out. She's a dynamite guitarist, plays piano and is a true powerhouse as a song writer. As you hear more of Courtney, you'll realize what a truly generational talent she is. Frankly, for me and many of us, she is the true voice of a lifetime. Courtney had been singing for a number of years prior, but she burst to worldwide fame when she took America's Got Talent (AGT) by storm with this performance in 2018. This audition video went viral and currently has over 500M views. Courtney herself has over 2 Billion on line views. She has a devoted following of millions from virtually everywhere on the globe. On AGT, Courtney focused on singing classic rock from the 60's and 70's by the likes of James Brown, Tina Turner and Janis Joplin. She literally blew the roof off of the arena with every performance. After AGT, so many who were first introduced to her there, viewed her as strictly this fabulous stage dominating rocker, which she most certainly is. However, she is so, so much more. Few realized how versatile she really was. So she then released a four song EP, where she took massive recent hits across multiple genres, totally re-invented them and created something amazing out of each of them. As an example, one of the songs on the EP was 'Lil Nas' huge record setting hit 'Old Town Road', which Courtney turned from it's original Country/Hip Hop version into a magnificent rock anthem. The purpose was to highlight both her incredible vocal range, but also her unmatched creativity. For all four of the songs on the EP, I've never come across anyone who has heard both the originals and Courtney's version, that didn't feel that Courtney blew the originals totally out of the water. The only reason Courtney isn't already a mega-star is mostly due to bad luck regarding timing. She was slated to appear as the youngest artist at the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. However, that ended up being cancelled for financial and logistical reasons. Courtney was so great on AGT, that she was signed to Syco/Arista records (Sony Music) shortly after the competition. She was getting ready to release her debut album of original music when Covid hit, and the drop was repeatedly delayed for over two years as a result, but big news from the Courtney camp is that her debut original single 'Breakable' will drop on Feb 24th. Based on the clips Courtney has shared, it will be epic There is so much pent up anticipation for Courtney's music that it will simply explode. I've put a few links below as suggestions for your next Courtney reaction. First is her performance on AGT Champions that will give you an idea of how Courtney can dominate a full stage. The second is the totally re-invented 'Old Town Road', which I mentioned above, to show you her creativity and finally is a ballad that will highlight what a truly beautiful voice Courtney has. One suggestion. Whenever listening to a Courtney cover, always listen to the original first. Courtney's creativity is off the charts and any cover she does will never sound anything like the original. It's going to be a hell of a ride, so enjoy. Courtney's performing style developed as she used to busk for singing lesson money and she had to come up with a dynamic style to get good tips. She mentions finding James Brown videos at age 11 noticed he used the full stage and she imitated his style but couldn't do all the moves properly so came up with her own. She constantly says she is not a dancer. Maybe not a trained dancer but she underestimates her stage presence. We has grown a lot, now is 5' 9" and also plays the guitar. Can't wait to see what she does next.

Courtney has done a lot as an independent. She did live covers of four popular songs and, like this performance, turned them all into hers. She wrote and sang five of her own songs in 2023, four of them have videos. I know you have done some of them but I hope you stay on your Courtney journey as a number of reactors have done. Her video "Monsters" won the 2023 coolest song of the year from Little Steve's (Springsteen's guitarist) Underground Garage. She has promised an album this year. It is great to be a Courtney fan.

If you thought that was good, play her when she returned to AGT. Cowell called her back for Champions because she didn't win the final. What she did then put this performance in the shade - amazing! I don't usually like rock, preferring opera and classic crossover, but I love Courtney.

I was in pure shock too the first time I heard her sing. She is a powerhouse no matter what she sings. This was just the start, all her AGT performances are amazing and jaw dropping. She didn’t end up winning, which was a huge mistake BUT she’s done a few really great things beyond that and is still trying to make her stamp on the music world. I lost a bit of respect though for Simon Cowel and AGT as a whole after his record label signed her then basically screwed her over and prevented her from releasing anything she actually wanted, trying to change her into some modern Ariana Grande-esque pop star when we can look back here and just tell that’s not at all who she is. Also, Covid really set things back as well. Since then though, she’s become an independent artist, she’s got a new single out called “ Breakable”. Absolutely nothing like the covers she was releasing under contract OR her AGT performances but still beautiful and powerful and unique to her. I encourage you to check it out. According to her this is also coming before an eventual Album release so stay tuned for that as well.

Kinda got a scandal about her. This is rarely their first contest. A lot are asked to come. Seen by AGT staff on social media or other shows. Not trying to take anything away from her. I loved her performances. At 12yo see competed on UK's The Voice Kids. The scandal was that she was faking her shyness when people found out she had competed before. It's real. A lot of Artists of any age are apprehensive until they go into their performance. She is still singing. Here is one of the first child singing fenoms, "Jackie Evancho," and also still singing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZXCiYesgcafgM0.
