The only person Lucifer lies to is himself. He didn't seem to understand why "I love you" was catching in his throat, but then he thinks he found an answer. But clearly is not the real reason why.

It’s also interesting to note that god and his sons were seated in a cross shape at the table with god at the head and Lucifer at the feet. Also, Michael sat in gods left and amenadiel sat in the right. In the story of the crucifixion, the “good thief” was on Jesus’s right side and the “unrepentant thief” was in the left.

God, there were a lot of really good scenes that I thoroughly enjoyed in this episode: 1) God's intro at the beginning 2) The dinner scene with Lucifer, Amenadiel, Linda, and Michael eating with God 3) Dan's heart-to-heart talk with Ella 4) Maze expressing her desire for a soul to God 5) Chloe and Dan relating their experiences of finding out Lucifer's identity

Jesus was mentioned once in the show! 4x01 when the US marshall was getting away in that car, Lucifer punched through the back windshield and the guys yelled "Jesus!" Lucifer replied "not quite."

Lucifer's line of "You got a chip on your shoulder so big, you've self actualized it." is probably one of my favorite lines this season. Tom Ellis' delivery together with him mimicking the crooked shoulder is just top notch.

In my opinion, it isn't as far-fetched as it initially seems. When you take the supernatural out of it, it is a pretty common thought process. Similar to people who had an absent parent eventually turning in on themselves. The "If they couldn't love me, who would? I wasn't enough to make them stay." Kind of thing. Amp it up to people commenting on how similar you are to that absent parent or what have you; it isn't a reach to think that you will be just as bad. Again, in my opinion.

I think this is the best season for discussion just because of the non plot elements of surrounding the characters and motivations. And then the plot is actually also really good and consistent in its writing and development.

Oh, I'm sure this was probably mentioned that John Glover's history with DC goes back even further than Smallville. He had a small part as the scientist in the movie, Batman & Robin, who betrays Dr. Pamela, played by Uma Thurman, and tried to kill her with biochemistry. She came back as Poison Ivy and killed him with her kiss.

There actually was a referece to Jesus in the show... I believe it was season 3, when a perp was trying to flee in his SUV, Lucifer was holding it and grabbing onto a streetlamp pole. When the perp realized he wasn't going anywhere he exclaimed "Jesus!', and Lucifer said, "not quite".

I think Maze does have a soul which is why God said she is perfect the exactly the way she is. I think the common conception is that demons do not have souls but who told them that? Did God say they don't so it is law or was it something Lilith told her children to make them stronger?
