I didn't think Season 6 was bad at all, and actually wrapped the show up in a very satisfying way. I think the Expanse crossover is because both shows have very well written characters. Don't worry, despite Lucifer being a narcissist with daddy issues, his charm will have you falling in love with him. The show is very self aware and unlike most police procedurals, the "case of the week" is used more as a "character study" than an actual "mystery" hook . Which, in my opinion, is something they could only do because Lucifer is who Lucifer is lol. I think you'll enjoy it.

The concept for this version of Lucifer first appears in Neil Gaiman's Sandman (which tells the story of how he eventually ends up in L.A.). It's not a direct adaptation of his further adventures that his own comic series had him on, but the idea of the honest (who truly despise being called the Prince of Lies), charming, fallen angel that is Lucifer Morningstar definitely took its beginnings from Gaiman's source material. Glad you've picked this up, it's a fun one 🙂

You are going to eat it up like the girl scout cookies! Excellent that we have a highly intelligent, savvy, witty writer watching one of THE best TV series ever written and performed with brilliance. Yes, the dialogue is fast paced witty and with that certain unmistakable British humor/sarcasm/double entendre thrown in for good measure. Glad to see you actually listen to the fast paced dialogue. So many reactors blabber on, talking over critical snippets of dialogue. There is not one millisecond of wasted dialogue on this show. It is a very complex, intricate tapestry of interwoven story lines that you will miss if not listening carefully. It is not just another police procedural, it tackles a whole array of essential questions about humanity and our belief systems and can be quite dark and heavy amongst the risque and sometimes even juvenile humor. It is also extremely addictive - really, really hard not to act on the urge to binge watch. These writers are masters of misdirection, and are most skilled at torturing the audience too.
@chanelle58899 ай бұрын
I almost don't even consider it a police procedural. The crime solving really is there to support advancing Lucifer's story, rather than being the primary point of the show.
@dboss72399 ай бұрын
@@chanelle5889 You are correct. I was attempting to simplify my comment. The cases that are presented and solved are devices to display and explore the inner workings of the main characters, rather than illuminating police detective work. It's more like illuminating the inner workings of both humans and celestials. Like this episode, Lucifer sees this innocent pop star gunned down, learns it's for greed and pursues the bad guy. He is further intrigued by Chloe and displays a sense of caring again when she is shot. So the "crime" was a way to have Lucifer explore a part of himself he may not have experienced before, and thus we advance his story and character development.

This was my favorite show, back in the day. A couple of things - this series is based on a comic book series from Vertigo, not the bible. So what you know about Satan, Hell and whatnot from the bible are not necessarily in play in this series. When FOX cancelled the series, the production team and the writers all got new jobs... So by the time Netflix picked up the series the writers room had mostly left. I think this is the cause of the problems with the Netflix version of the show. Loved the series, I think you will too. Lucifer's character is a bit much most of the time... I think that's his role to be the comic foil for Detective Decker. In promotional interviews Tom Ellis did for the show, he said that the dialogue was mostly on the page, with very little adjustments or ad lib from them...

Even season 6, though the episodes individually sometimes annoyed me, I think it's unfair to say it tanked, it gave an ending I could be satisfied with and that tied the rest of the story up in a way that made sense. A lot of shows lose track of their original points by the time they're in the third season, but Lucifer managed to keep renewing itself without completely losing it's genesis from mind. Also there's some real character growth that keeps up throughout the seasons.

While we all are waiting for Outlander S7b, it's great to see you found your way to Lucifer which is way more than meets the eye. Whatever you will see in forthcoming eps, please keep in mind that not everything is made up. In fact the overall framework of Lucifer is based on a comic book which in turn is based different religious/christian exegesis. Like, other than those we are familiar with. In old Hebrew, Aramaic and Jewish conceptions God had a wife and the archangels are their children, thus Lucifer is God's son. Satan is just a title, a function like director or CEO, and so Lucifer is not bad per se, it's just his job to punish bad people. On a related note he "despises" children bc they are innocent. Keep that in mind and you will see how multilayered the series and the dialogues actually are. Season 1-3 are just phenomenal.

I love how Trixie is the only one who seems to recognise that the name Lucifer belongs to the devil. Everyone else just seems to accept it as a matter of course.

I'll be curious to see how far you make it into this show. Like all shows, it has it's ups and downs so while I've certainly heard "complaints" about the final season I personally didn't think it was ALL bad and likely just suffered from them needing to wrap up a show that had been running for like a decade. Personally, I was kind of hooked after the very first episode and never looked back from there.

Lucifer questioned God. This started a rebellion of sorts. 1/3 (200) angels fell. Before the fall of the angels, there was no need for hell.

Did the words "in the beginning" did not give a hint who ruled hell bevor lucifer? It was the START of everything! 2 Mins and i am already questioning if i stick to this...

Wait until you see episode 9 of season 1, I think that is where the series really took off.

@@irrelevant_noob Though he does cross over to the DC CW shows in crisis when Constantine comes a calling. Not sure where there encounter falls in the lucifer timeline though, but it was Tom Ellis Lucifer.

@@kirbyjohnson8417 so it's just a cameo, not a crossover. The latter would have impact on *_both_* shows.

Lucifer in general is very, very watchable, but for me season 1 was just outstanding. Season 2 was great as well, with one or two somewhat weaker episodes. But then again, which show is consistently outstanding? Later seasons got a bit bumpier for me. But the absolute highlight was that first introductory episode S1*1. It got me hooked. Unfortunately Netflix cancelled Lucifer in my country round-about mid-season 4, and somehow I never got my VPN to work consistently to make Netflix USA accept me. Only a few intermittent episodes of later seasons got through to me, so I never got the full experience.
