There probably is a past there, which makes sense knowing in the comics, they are romantically involved, and when Lucifer leaves Hell, Mazikeen leaves a scar on his face, and despite his ability to heal himself, Mazikeen basically told him he would be a coward if he did. I wonder if (mild spoilers) Lucifer cutting Michael's face in Season 5 with Mazikeen's knife is a vague reference to that
