I realize this video is from quite a few months ago, but I’ve been listening to and watching so many of your videos and this is the first time I realized how much Cleo has the coloring of a weirwood tree! You’ve got me rereading ASOIAF -I’m noticing all the little mythological gems you’ve been talking about and all the foreshadowing. It’s making my reading even more enjoyable. I had a three hour conversation with my son the other day about the books and characters and all the references I’ve learned through your channel.

44:20 as a carpenter I can tell you that turned wood is an object carved from a whole log. Its called turned because the log is rotated while chiselled into a shape. So, if the lance is 8-9 foot tall it was made from an entire tree trunk. Such a large would object, made with old techniques of that period, would have needed master craftmen labouring for months or years.

Around 1:12:00 Dunk throws a copper (star?) down between Egg’s feet. Then as he leaves the shadows grow (by the shadow) as he reaches Ashford (Ashaii). Seems like a reenactment of Azor Ahai pulling down a meteor to corrupt the land by his capitol city. May be more in the language.

Such a great stream! This really adds to the feeling that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms felt more fairytale-like than most of the main series to me, even though Dunk & Egg gets pretty dark sometimes. I love these stories so much.

Had to pull over to the side of the interstate to leave this comment: Pennytree between the hills also echoes Dany's three eggs. BlackRed ash & fire world on one side, WhiteGold ice world on the other. In the middle is GreenBronze, like the copper of the pennies.

"The trees were bright with moonlight and the sky was cloudless and speckled with stars." Dunk doesn't turn around but he can feel the stable boy watching him. The next paragraph beginns "The shadows grew longer...". So there are white moon trees, stars and Dunk feel watched, and there are shadows. It sounds like Other's are watching with there star eyes.

“Nissa Nissa, bear your breasts and know that I love you most…” 43:54 turned wood just means it was carved from a larger piece of wood. A turned ash wood staff means the staff is made from the center part of a branch or trunk of ash. 1:14:14 words are magic, that’s why it’s called spelling! One of my therapists told me that to summarize our discussion over the power of self talk. 2:04:33 agreed! I’ve had a simple beaker cheech for years and I adore it.

Dunk comes to an Inn, which could represent a weirwood or a weirwood cave. He meets a child, coming up from a stream, legs covered in mud. The Cranogmen who are close to the Children of the Forest are called mudmen.

Imo dunk is probably only 6’7-6’8 during the hedge knight (still huge) because there’s about a year between the tourney and him being measured and I would think he grew 3-4 inches in that time, especially when we assume he may grow that last inch to 7 ft due to hodor, so even in a sworn sword we believe him to be still growing(though slowly) so he definitely was 2 years prior

Re: Quentyn... If it is a quintain in the form of a straw knight, well, straw's pretty damn flammable 🤣. Got me thinking though, it may be that Bloodraven as an avatar of AA/NK displayed in his ancestry, being a dragon invading a tree with his "sword". Also makes me wonder if he didn't murder Nissa Nissa, but impregnated her, and she died in childbirth. Maybe it's subsequent to her death, and his tryna resurrect her that the whole otherising process happens. Obvi not certain about it, but it is interesting to consider, since I think I've heard you say Dany has as much blackwood blood as Bloodraven, and Jon half as much as them both.

Any connection between dunks falling star and house Dayne, I somewhat associate it with him being the only one to see the star and him being the only one who knows where egg is (even if he doesn’t know his identity) a half Dayne, slightly dunk having it on his shield potentially marking his own heritage, or on a more tinfoil line the elm is commonly referenced when people are hung from them in TWOTFK, along with dunks shield in the mystery knight of a hanged man, plus the sun setting into the night on his original, maybe references his line bringing the long night, and Hodor will become the nights king

Love Tim noting the inflation/cost of living stuff. One thing I'll tack on is that the subsequent deterioration may've been avoided if Baelor had lived. The joust *does* change the price of eggs! Also, ton of Jesus in the Arlan burial. The grail is in brown, the thing containing Christ's blood is in the earth, Arlan is buried. Odin's not the only "speared to the wood" Godguy; the lance also evokes the Lance of Longinus. (And I have a tinfoil notion that Arlan comes back as Steely Pate. Dunk calls the Smith "the old man," acts as if he already knows Pate, and Baelor dies at Pate's hands. As if Arlan/Pate is settling the score.) WHEYFaced inn woman = Waif? Blood and pennies share a smell. So Dunk's fistful of pennies = Ned's blood-covered hand

So if I understand the scene at around 1:07:07 The first time Azor Ahai (Egg) mounts Thunder (Enters the Weirwood Network) he ends up making a childish mistake before Dunk happens to find him (which in this scene feels to me like some form of mentor figure to Azor Ahai not sure who that would be, perhaps a Child of the Forest?) It seems his first mistake is something childish and without consequence. Dunk is able to laugh it off and Egg is bucked off. Which could be Azor Ahai leaving the Weirwood Network without harm.
