Stuff like this makes me wish Awakening was made like how Genealogy of the Holy War was. Where Robin killing Chrom wasn't just shown at the beginning of the game and instead was near the Midway point of the game and you end up losing your generation one army after transforming into Grima before getting to play as Lucina and her army and go through the dlc events until finally going back in time to reunite with your generation 1 army and preventing the murder of Chrom from ever happening before finally returning home to seal away the grima of Lucina's timeline and get her and her army a temporary happy ending

Man, Awakening is my favorite game in the franchise (and I've played a lot of them: FE1, FE2, FE4, FE5, FE7, FE8, FE13, FE14Birthright, FE14Conquest, FE15 & FE16) and I wanted to say that this analysis is amazing. You did a wonderful work showing Lucina's development and attitude, and I'm glad that you counted CD Drama and Manga content for this purpose. I'm truly impressed, and thanks to this video I watched the others. Your channel is amazing, and althrought I can't agree in some things (such as Lucina being the main figure in Awakening or Awakening's narrative separation in three arcs as an error) I can say that I'm glad for meeting you now. I would’ve loved if you went more in-depth into why you believe Lucina is Awakening’s true lord (the tag-line of your title), as opposed to Chrom or Robin. What defines the lords of Fire Emblem? Why does she fit that title better than any other character in Awakening? I kept waiting for you to discuss those things. If you were to ask my opinion, tragedy and the burden of leadership are what defines the lords of Fire Emblem. Alm kills his own father and cousin and is forced to lead Rigel as its sole heir. Celica’s whole family is slaughtered, and she is forced into hiding until she realizes she’s the only one who can rescue Mila and restore life to Zofia. Seliph and Roy are left orphaned by past wars and must gather the scraps of their nations to restore peace. Ike witnesses his father’s death, and must take his place as leader of the Greil Mercenaries and protector of the princess of Crimea. All these characters suffer loss, and are burdened with picking up the pieces and leading. So is Lucina defined by tragedy and the burden of leadership? As your video documents: Yes. Obviously. But so is Chrom. So it’s hard to say who is the “true lord”. Personally, I agree with you. If there can only be one, then I’d vote Lucina as the heroine and “true lord” of Awakening. She loses more and takes on greater burdens than Chrom does. Chrom at least had years of peace and guidance before becoming Exalt. Lucina never had that luxury. Chrom’s father was a cold tyrant whose death doesn’t seem to affect him much. Meanwhile, Chrom’s death is the most tragic event of Lucina’s life, perhaps second to failing to save her timeline. And of any one person, Lucina did and suffered and sacrificed the most to save humanity. The world would be lost without her. I see Lucina as a much more sympathetic character too. A lot of people connect with her because of her trauma and her failures. Those two things humanize a character more than anything else because most of us fail and are scarred, too. As far as the “she’s boring” critique, I don’t really get it. She’s feels more viscerally human than most FE characters. She literally time traveled to save the world. She even threatens to kill her own mother/lover if it means saving it! Like, what exactly is “interesting” to these people? Being all “I love fighting!” like Ephraim/Hector? Being some half-dragon, otherworldly prince(ss) like Corrin? No offense to those characters, but sometimes I wonder what people want, exactly. I think what some people mean is, “She should’ve done more in the story,” which I can agree with. But it’s more the fault of the writers than her that she isn’t given much else to do once she joins your party. Anyhow, loved your video. You had a very in-depth, insightful analysis and I got to learn more about Lucina (never knew about the drama CD). You really dissected her character and showed her every strength and scar. I’m so sorry, I did not expect to type this much, I kinda got carried away. Thanks for the video.

Wow... loved your analysis. Too underrated (probably because you’re new) Been watching lots of your other FE analysis videos. Nobody asked... But here’s my take on Lucina anyways (AT FIRST). I would think the best parts that made me begin to enjoy Lucina a bit more was her support conversations with the avatar. She definitely felt like the typical blue haired lord. But she started to gradually grow on me. Even though I was open minded and blind through the beginning of her conversations, I found her incredibly annoying and pesky at the starting conversations of her explaining her side of the story. I absolutely hated her great effort of telling her experiences and entrusting Robin with the future and her words all from the beginning. She had an utterly depressing vibe (but she’s still beautiful... lol) All I could react with was: “Sure, sure, Lu... I GET IT.” Until I got to the A Support conversation... Robin and Lucina finally exchange words of honesty. Lucina thinks she can handle herself being down in the dumps. She doesn’t trust herself or the others. She shows many signs. Until Robin wants her to promise to take better care of herself. Lucina says the same to Robin. Lucina feels a bit loosened up. But imo, I don’t think she’ll ever be easily happy or cheered because of her past moments and memories. It feels hopeless and she feels unchangeable. That’s what I have always thought. I start to pair her up with Robin more through the mid-chapters. Bam. S support conversation is right there on my doorstep. Why the heck not? Let’s see what she has to offer. Suddenly Lucina is feeling different. A bit jumpy and she has a refreshing moment. When Robin gives Lucina flowers to cheer her up, she starts to talk about only seeing barren grass... no flowers in her world. I truly felt sad for her, but this wasn’t what I was looking for. At this point, It feels helpless to cheer her up. Stupid. Worthless. Why am I even spending my time pairing myself up with her!- “But enough of that. Tell me Robin, what are we celebrating?” Oh... mkay. I’ll TAKE THAT... I’ll start to take back my words one by one... Yet she still says she shouldn’t be a worry for Robin. More words exchanged. Support S rank reached. The thought of finally making her happy (or at least cheered) was satisfying and amusing to say the least. A wholesome and bright future-y moment. It had felt like breaking through her barrier of unease and stress was finally working (or complete). I had realized her character trait of having loved ones by her side was exactly that of Chrom. She is easily open minded and pleasant once she see’s the other children by her side. The main factor of her source of happiness seems to be interacting or sharing moments with her loved ones. And I finally get how much of her past experiences left her a lifetime scar. As for more important and destiny-changing roles, Lucina is the only reason why Chrom and Emmeryn’s destiny was changed in Chapter 6. Her role in the beginning chapters was hugely impactful and mysterious. Wish we could have seen more of her significance later on, or through the endgame chapters, I would’ve enjoyed Lucina more that way. In the end, my thoughts on Lucina are that I feel she is pretty underrated, but she is one of my most favorited Lords out there (potentially waifu, but not waifu material) As getting her to S rank support on my very first Hard/Classic FE series playthrough, (and my second Awakening playthrough...) she holds huge significance through my starting moments of the FE series.

I'll be completely honest with you: while I do think that she had a tragic backstory and it's very easy to feel bad for her given the burden she has to bare, I am at a complete and total 180 when you said she's underrated. I understand that may be how you feel about her personally, and please understand that I'm not trying to undermine you when I say this, but I cannot honestly say she's an underrated character: for her to be that, she would have to be undermined by many people, not just a vocal minority. She's one of the most popular characters and practicality has become the face of what the franchise has become, for better or for worse, and there are several people how love her wholeheartedly (both as a character and as a waifu), and I hardly see anyone say anything bad about her: this is definitely NOT what an underrated character objectively is. I would even go so far as to say that if anyone goes so far as to speak ill of her in any way, they will be rebuked and defended by her fans, and as someone who views her as the single most overrated character in the game, I can personally attest to this statement. That isn't to say that I think she's a bad character or one that is completely undeserving of the respect she has gained within the larger part of the fanbase (even if some of the reasons why people love her so much is for reasons relating to viewing her as a waifu, let's be real here), but this is coming from someone who is not as fanatically obsessed over her as everyone else.

I can definitely agree with you on her overrated view when it comes to her many popular appearances in other games (FE Heroes/Many alts, Smash, etc). My opinion on her being a bit underrated is more leaned towards Awakening. She feels pretty lackluster imo during the ending chapters. Just wish she got more action, or a brief goodbye moment to add some more completion to her. But hey, at least she’s got a bunch of action in DLC “Future Past” chapters. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
