I remember this song.... Loved it growing up. I believe "Feudin' like the Hatfields and McCoys" refers to what was called "New Country" music transforming the original sound of country music. There was a big battle at the time. This song emblemizes original or "Old Country" music, as Hank Williams and Willie Nelson pushed forward to "New Country."
